Thread: DEs are a Different Breed of SWG Player

In a recent post, I made the statement:
"More so than any other profession in the game, DEs are unwilling to move on to other professions. For many, it is a simple choice to play DE, or not play at all."
What I was driving at there, was that between the two types of pleople that play SWG, (Star Wars fans and MMORPG fans) the HUGE majority of people that play DE are Star Wars fans. And DE is about the only thing Star Warsie about SWG. I then stumbled across a poster that started talking about Metrics. He impressed that as long as the metrics showed a sufficient number of people being DEs in the game, then the DE profession must be just fine.
So I put the two together. SOE has completely missed the mark on DE because the people playing DE will not leave their beloved droids, and it's screwing up the metrics! The Staff at SOE is complelty reliant on these indications, and nothing we say here in the forums is going to get them to come up off their belief that everything in DE land is just peachy. This was perfectly illustratedwith the Chocolate Covered Turd we got in P7. As far as SOE knew, it was more than we needed.
Prior to the Chef re-vamp, how hard was it to find one? No one had any reason to be a chef. It wasa weak RP profession and a non-SWG profession, so why play it? The Metric-O-Matic must have had smoke coming out of every hole. Then the HUGE re-vamp came, and they got some real love, the numbers came up nicely. Everything was right in the wonderfuil world of metrics.
Now I ask you. Besides quiting the DE profession (as one poster suggested) or the game, how do we communicate to the SOE Staff that their metrics are unreliable? How do we tell them that thier belief in a happy DE community is scewed?

interesting idea... I'd hope that the info brought to them through the correspondents and on the forums would make them see some things, but you never know.

I fear that even hope is gone in this regard. How many times have our please been repsonded to?
How much development information so we get from TK or the Devs?
This forum is like the roman colluseums of old. They gave the citizens an outlet for their anger and violence. We get to come here and rant and scream. But all it does is gives us the illusion that we a re heard. Honestly, if one more coorespondent or staffer tells me these forums are read I'll......
If these forums are read, then SHOW it by publishing what we want. Show us by giving a list of all the bugs you are tracking. Show us by telling us what you have in development.
Over and over we have been told that these forums matter, and that the information is two way. So lets get some of that info back. What is going on behind the curtain!!!!

we sit and cry about it.... No I am telling the truth!!! the DE has always (from beta) been on the short end of the stike... So we get a few new toy are we are happy for a day, but all in all thats the best we can hope for guys.... at one point they may give use new droids and fix the old ones like the BLL but hey play it as is and cry or dont play it. SOE does what they can (yes they do) and yes we want more but so does every other profession out there. Pick the best profession out there and they are still going to be crying about some thing. If you want them to fix the DEs tell them to just fix the game altogether. try and try this is a crap load better then when I first started being a DE and you could not even sell/trad the droid!
