Hello, Im sure your sick of this kind of thing.. and I tried to read some of the notes regarding your proposals being shot down and what not.. really sorry to hear that.. (as a formor smuggler, bh i understand your pain)

But currently what Can you do as far as combat droids are concerned? I have a very old probot, that i really didnt use much (well prior to patch 6) as it really couldnt do much. Were you guys improved at all during the last few patches? I dont need a tank or anything.. just something that can help out.. And, i really dont care what it looks like, (i read somewhere that people were telling you they were sick of the probots or something like that)

Long post short, should i buy a new combat droid?

again, im sorry for the post.. but i saw lots of propsal posts and not many "wow i made a great droid" type posts..

thanks for your time

DEs can not retrofit existing droids at all. This has been proposed and the galaxy had a harty chuckle.

There has been some discussion that the patch 8 droids combat capabilty will be better then patch 7.

We do not know if the patch 7 droids will be automatically upgraded to patch 8 level.

Recommendation: Try the forum after patch 8 is on TC. We should have answers then.

Thanks for the response.. im not looking to get my current one upgraded.. just curious as to if they have changed much over the past few patches.. Lord knows when patch 8 will come

i found this site http://www.undeadfish.com/droids.phpand his droid creation.. it looks like i could have an r3 with the same combat/armor as a probot but with a bunch of other mods..(storage, repair, med who knows) Is this the way it is? am i missing a post on what the limits and what not are (like i saw that theres no reason to go higher then L4 for armor)

Im just trying to get exactly what i want down before i go buggin a de in game to make it lol..

thanks guys

You give up the ability to have other modules in order to make a combat R3. Basically in order to make combat droids, we need to stack combat modules. So an R3 with 6 modules, can have 6 combat modules and be a good damage dealer or can have 3 combat modules, and 3 utility modules and be a mediocre fighter.

Overall, droids are worth giving a try. Depends what you want to do. I like using my LE while hunting so the beasties have something else to attack instead of piling on me. Depending on what you hunt he can be very helpful or very useless. Hunting difficulty level 40 missions on Endor/Dath I had no problem keeping my LE alive w/ a couple hits from a repair kit during battle. LE do less damage, but have higher HAM. R3 has better damage lower ham, but is slower than probot. Probot does most damage, but has least ham.

I prefer an LE myself. If you are hunting endor or a more advanced planet like Lonkley you should have enough combat skills to not need the extra damage, so an LE tank is the best bet.

Not to mention that you can add the 'King' of personality modules into an LE. I only wish I could 'program' more wit than its existing repertoire.

Some of the things it utters are priceless and enormously amusing to me. I'm easily pleased, sue me.

You mean the personality chip? Thats just personal preference. The slang one is the best IMO because of the comedy factor and its just a little easier to craft then the worshipfull and prissy ones.

The quick and dirty lowdown:

1) Combat modules have a cap at 110. However, these are pretty rare to find. You'll commonly find droids using modules rated between 100 and 110 from DE's who've been around a while.

2) A Probot has the smallest HAM of the 3 main combat droids (~1100 MAX ) but highest DPS (damage per second). The LE Repair has the largest HAM (~2200 MAX ) but the lowest DPS. The R3 is your mid-range comprimize( ~ 1700 MAX) .

3) Pick up a crate of repair kits. You can now heal "white bar" damage of droids now as they fight. Most of the good kits can heal a droid completly in 1 shot.

Should you buy a new droid? well, in my opinion the damage increase over the old ones are significant (over 4x). As one who is capped at combat exp and my weapons exp...the extra firepower is appreciated for eliminating a threat quick.

so, there is not "cap" per say on the combat modual stacking? ie, if (just for example) i got an R3 with all 6 as combat he indeed would be better then 3 combat and 3 somthing else? it looked like on the litter generator that cl15 was max and that happened at like 3 or so combat moduals, i would want all the combat mods that counted.

So, looks like a LE maxed for combat si what i would want.. working rifleman and would like to keep stuff off me for as long as possible

Anyone on Valcyn making this?

well now there is a cap, its 100 per combat module. Although im not sure if its an actual cap or a function of experimentation limits.

Hmm, I'd have to say no to that cap of 100 combat rating per combat module, because I have repeatedly crafted combat modules over 100 combat rating. I believe the combat rating is calculated using **some formula** that include the module quality and module effectiveness values. I believe the module effectiveness cap is at 15 and the module quality cap is at 100.

During crafting I most often make combat modules with effectiveness of 12 and quality of (35ish I think?). This results in either 99 or 100 combat rating. However, in the rare circumstances I can get 13 effectiveness out of the module, the combat rating goes up to 103.

Of course its all dependant on the resources you have available and the amount of experimentation you devote to effectiveness.
