I know when I was DE (long time ago) all droid crafting stations were (bugged) as +15... That still the case? More important - if not and fixed now, do 'pre-nerf' old droids still work that way? Anyone test? Thanks.

As far as I know droid stations have never actually had a real rating. There's the module quality rating, but that has nothing to do with the crafting station's quality. There was always speculation as to what it was equivalent to, but a little while back the devs finally put it to rest by telling us that the droid stations were all essentially neutral (no bonus to experimentation/assembly rolls, but no negatives either)

Yup, that's my understanding. They've been neutral crafting stations since day one.

So they are 0 rating (in range of -15 to +15) thats still better than what most people can make ... Thanks.

Actually, they aren't 0, they're null. A droid crafting station has no impact whatsoever on the crafting process. It's like using a material that doesn't have the attributes the end item cares about. (i.e. using lubricating oil on a schematic that calls for conductivity)

No Euro, don't misunderstand what they are saying.
They are not 0, they are neutral. Which means that all they do is give you all your schematics, the ability to make schematics, and the ability to experiment.
Neutral means they don't take any part of the crafting formula.
You are thinking tools that range from -15 to 15. Crafting stations actually go up to 45, well in theory, nobody has ever made perfect ones, maybe even 50.
Using a lower number crafting station can actually hurt you, nobody is sure at what point a station stops hurting and helps, it's not as simple as positive and negative.
One thing is sure, a Droid crafting station neither hurts nor helps you.
People can correct me if I am wrong, this is just how I understand it.

To be honest, even though people pay top dollar for high rated regular crafting stations, I don't believe they have any real impact either. I have yet to experience, or see any conclusive evidence, to suggest it really makes a difference. I believe the tool rating does have an effect on crit fails, but I don't think crafting stations really matter. If they did, we would have figured it out by now because people would report different results using a droid crafting module or a crafting station in a house. If it does make a difference, it's negligible.
Besides, the only thing it's even INTENDED to have an effect on is assembly and experimentation success. That's why while I have a decent crafting station (42.5?) I have never spent 100's of K on a better one.

Why buy a high level crafting station ?
NOT because you expect better results - the REAL reason is that any customers visiting your workshop and seeing a 44 % crafting station automatically think you make top level product. Its an IMAGE thing !
Also ... a city hall with a crafting room with five 44 % crafting station is an argument for people to join the city - as strange as it sounds.
Have fun

I thought high lvl crafting station increases your chance (of amazing success) when experimenting on items - something you DEs would not know anything about since none of your items get benefit of experimenting
Try making BER 13 harverster withoug a good crafting station?

DE's do require experimentation on some itesm, so we do know what's up. As far as the difference in quality, I've used my droid station (neutral to the process) and a perfect 45 rated station (a bunch of them were made on tarq during the 1 day crafting change) and I've never noticed any difference.

That is kind of a harsh statement there, Euro, considering we have plenty of items that benefit from experimentation. Droid HAM, repair kits, droid batteries, about a dozen modules, and the list goes on.
