Thread: A DE turns the MSE Droid corner and has some questions...

So, the other day I finally got Advanced Blueprints so I could grind the advanced frame instead of the MSE Droid. Wow, how refreshing!

Anyway, I've worked my way up to 1,0,0,3 and can now make most of the droids. I now have a couple questions.

1) When I read the schematics for the Seeker Droid, it refers to the electronic parts as coming from a factory. Does this mean that I can ONLY use factory made electronic parts on a seeker droid??

2) How do other droid engineers sell their wares? Do you put fully built droids on your vendor? Or do you mostly do it by direct request?

I find this to be a very annoying issue. There are so many combinations of droids/modules that its impossible to stay stocked. What I hope/pray they eventually do is allow you to add modules to droids AFTER they've been constructed. That I I can just put one frame of each time and a couple different modules in my vendory and then put them together for the customer after they buy what they want. Enough wishful thinking.

I generally stock 1 of each kind of crafting droid:

R2 Advanced (5 modules)
One Crafting Station
Medical 6
Item 6
Data 6
Droid Repair
Armor 6 x 2

And 1 of each personality (except stupid) for protocol droids (no modules).

This is for the consumption of the general public. One of these will perform just about any task (aside from combat) that a person will need.

I also have a wide selection of droid chassis on display (and for sale) beside the vendor. The customer has to communicate with me to buy them, though, since there is no way to let them buy the one they want without my intervention.

I also make custom order droids. These mostly include Surgicals, R3 Advanced, Protocol Advanced, and the occasional BLL.

I do NOT make mouse droids anymore. I feel the Novice DE needs a market, and frankly, I hate MSE droids ;-) I made enough toasters in my Novice DE time.

I have taken on an apprentice as well. I provide him resources whenever I can, and he provides me with some of the items he grinds for xp. I no longer have to make these items by hand, as he supplies most of my low-level parts. My using his modules nets him more xp than he would get without it (more than practice mode too), plus he gets free training whenever he is ready for it.

I have 3 factories beside my house. I run crates of mid to high-level items (Advanced Motive Systems, Advanced Droid Brains, GP Modules, EM Modules, Control Units, Micro Sensor Suites, etc)

If I keep parts from both my apprentice and my factory runs, I can make just about any custom droid very quickly.

This post is not to tell you how to do things, just explaining what works for me.

The 1st 10% of the code takes 90% of the time; the remaining 90% of the code takes the remaining 90% of the time.

Great post, thanks for the info! I like your apprentice idea, very creative and productive.

PS: Sorry for my run-on post. Evidently I uncheckedthe "covert carriage returns to HTML line breaks" checkbox
