Thread: Novice DE with a question about 'factory models'

I was wondering, since a DE can only hold 5 droids on his datapad...

A lot of my customers want to see what a certain droid looks like so they can choose one that fits their character. This is easy for me right now as I'm only at Intermediate blueprints and only have 3 droids to show. However as I climb higher on the tree there will be more and more of a selection to choose from, but I'll be running out of room to store 'factory' models' of droids to show to customers. The R series has4 droids on its own, not to mention treadwalls, protocol...

So my question is, without a way to store more droids, how do we show the customer the various droid bodies you can make without creating a factory model right there on the spot, then deleting it and wasting the resources so you can open up the slot again?

I just thought of a fix for this that I don't believe is exploitable. When your crafting a droid next to a crafting station, another option would appear at the experiment/manufacturing schematic screen. It would say factory model or something like that, and when you use it you wait the normal time for the item, but it imputs directly to your datapad.

The droid would not be allowed to be traded, nor would any moduals placed in it work (so you really woudn't want to put any in this droid). It would have the most basic commands like stay, follow, patrol...

The cool thing would be that it wouldn't count towards your droid total. You could call it, show people what it looked like, then store it easily. It would even have the title (factory model) to show it different from the other droids in your datapad.

I just think that DE's should get more droid storage, at least 1 for every droid type that they can make.

If you have a house, there's a solution for at least some of this. You can create the whatever "ADV Chassis" for more and more droids as you work your way up Blueprints. The Advanced Chassis of droids can be dropped in your house for display. I have a whole "droid showroom" that shows off R2, R3, R4, Surgical, Probot, LE Repair and Protocol this way.
