Thread: The Environment vs YOU!
I've been reading Holo's thread asking for the top three problems with the game (http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=Development&message.id=545223&view=by_date_ascending&page=1) and noticed some things we've never made too much of a highlight upon in these boards. The game, indirectly, is hurting our class (among others). Here's what I've found:
Bounty Hunters:
Thier missions don't pay them enough to fund travel/droids/etc... we've all heard this, but what happens when a BH makes master? Now he's got no reason to buy seekers and probe droids. With the player bounty system being null and void, we lose out on a market anytime a BH makes master.
The Terrain:
Camps readjust the terrain to become placeable, yet MMI's and such will not, we lose out on some nice spots, in build zones, to mine, slowing mining slowly, but surely.
Travel Speed:
Running forever is killing me, not sure about you guys. With extractors on multiple planets, if I do an extractor run, it can easily surpass an hour and a half. Now, I've got a job that I work at in the military, I have to be there, SWG is not an excuse. So, that leaves me with just an afternoon to play, and after doing an extractor run, crafting a few droids, eating dinner, etc... look at the time, must log to get up in the morning on time.
Artisan Terminals:
Artisan Mission payouts, like the survey missions, are dependant upon your weapon skill. Is there something I'm missing here? When I untrain Pistol IV, i'm going to start losing money on these. They used to be a great way to make a quick couple of grand if business was slow that day, enough to fund the harvesters, but without a pistol skill, i'm going to have to try something else to pay for maintenance.
Shuttles:
Waiting 10 minutes between shuttles is annoying. I've missed the shuttle and had 9:58 (my record) quite a few times. These waits add onto my travel time on those harvester runs, making it that much longer of a wait until I can actually play the game.
Harvesters:
I've voiced the complaint on them already about the runs to them. We now get a message when one's running extremely low on funds. However, what about when it stops due to a resource shift? I've placed quite a few only to return the next day and see that I must've placed just minutes before a shift. Had I recieved an email, I could've ran back and moved them that night before.
Creatures:
There are hundreds of creatures for a Creature handler to use, and still at least a hundred creatures non-CH's can use. Why do we only have a handful of droids.
Droidekas:
They're in the game, yet I can't make one. If there's a creature in the game, like a Kimogila, a CH can train one. And I hate all the requests for one of these that I get a day. People see it in the game and assume, rightfully so, that a MASTER DE should be able to make one.
Resources:
There are lots of resources, perhaps too many. Quality doesn't affect droids much, so it's not so much an advantage to us. I've got stacks of duralloy steel, unfortunately none of them will stack as they're all different types. I can't combine them, so I'm forced to use/sell/destroy them to make room for yet another duralloy steel.
Faction HQs:
These require a lot of specialized classes, even the Bio-engineer, but I see no requirement for a DE to be there, much less a droid. Shouldn't a droid be required to slice/jam something too?
Other DE's:
My droids are just as good as another guys' droids, regardless of my experimentation or resources. I've got no edge on them, and they've got none on me.
Non-Master's vs Masters:
All crafting classes are feeling this. How's a non-master supposed to compete against a master? The only option is to grind that nasty grind we all did. And once there are masters out there, who wants the little things? I rarely see MSE's being mentioned in a shout as being for sale. Back when there were no other choices, these sold like hotcakes. The master has hurt the novice.
Rust:
All that rain I see can't be good for droids, shouldn't they be oiled occasionally?
Languages:
When's the last time someone spoke a language you didn't understand? With all these languages being so abundant, there's not even a reason for a protocol droid to fulfill it's assumed function, translator.
Burnout:
As aMaster DE, I've got a lot of cash on me. I went out and bought the best weapon and armor I could, I've got a nice medium house, filled with stuff. I've got the best harvestors I could find, the best crafting station. What's left for me to spend money on? Why should I continue trying to pawn off droids onto others? That's a lot of work, and now there's no real payout. Where's my motivation?
Bounty Hunters:
Thier missions don't pay them enough to fund travel/droids/etc... we've all heard this, but what happens when a BH makes master? Now he's got no reason to buy seekers and probe droids. With the player bounty system being null and void, we lose out on a market anytime a BH makes master.
-------------------------------------------------------------
at master level the missions are pretty profitable. im not a master yet but i will still be doing BH missions and a lot of them. unfortunately a lot of people take up BH just for one weapon line and are not really BH at all. i think there are about as many BH trying to be master as there are fixes for the DE proffession.
i like using my probe droids to help with bounty marks. i detest biological pets droids are much more fun. if only the DZ70 would actually be useful in some way for tracking fugitives. i would love to have my DZ70 be able to store my seekers and probes instead of having them in inventory. and have them actually be able to track my fugitives and give me detailed spoken info on the mark's heading location etc at higher levels.
