Droid Engineer Archive

Being a former game designer, i was thinking of ways to make the Droid engineer class more exciting, and the game more Star Wars instead of Poke'mon.

1.) New droid classes:

- battledroids like in TPM. They can be armored, can use a carbine or pistol, but low HAMs (less than a probot, but slightly more than a LE droid). The carbine classification (or pistol) would be a level 1 - 6 (no uber guns though). These would be almost disposible attack droids. And it would be cool hearing them say "Roger! Roger!". No storage, med or repair modules, etc. the bare bones grunt.

- Destroyer Droids. The rolling gunboats. They would have shield generators (they would suck up droid batteries, so stock up) and have firepower much like the probots. they would also be the true tanks, but not invincible. Also, how about they be the droid to use to counter CH creatures in battles? Perhaps a chance to stun, blind, or even warning shoot a creature away. Now you can't be the unstoppable Master creature handler in a fight, cuz here come rolling the droids!

2.) new modules

- droids with built in survey devices, just to save the room in the backpack. Click on the droid and select "Survey Mineral" from the radial. Only usable with the appropiate skill.

- droids with a mini-vendor, space to be determined my the Item storage size (max i believe is 10 spaces). Only usable with the appropiate skill (i.e. merchants).

- Droids with slicer pluses. Much like R2-D2 slicing all kinds of computers in the movies, perhaps this module will give a very slight (up to +10%) modifier for Slicers.

- Entertainment droids. Although i think for game balance, droids should NOT be allowed to help entertainers outside the cantina (or the cantina will be empty all the time, and THATS not Star Wars), how about a module to add a small modifier to the performance at a cantina or camp? A "spotlight and effects" for the dancer, and a cool "mixing board" for musicians?

Just some ideas to think about. Lets see some others!

OH! One more idea! When a Commando sets someone on fire with a flame thrower...how about a droid with a fire extiguishing unit? Every class should think of a droid as helper!
