I've seen this mentioned a few times, and I think it would be awesome. Think about it:
Medic comes in: "Yeah my droid isnt working, can you fix it?"
DE: "Hmm, well it looks like your droid blew a motivator, and your

I think decaying subcomponents would be cool. Think about it:
Medic: "My droid isnt working, can I you fix it"
DE: "Hmm yeah, I see your droid blew a motivator... and you chasis is showing a bit of wear, but I can patch it up"
It would make good RP anyways...
