Thread: Is our Developer going to help us with the remaining issues?

Someone one-starred my previous post on this topic, which was quite a bit longer than I'm making this one. This whole idea around one-starring a post to kill it from the list is something that needs to be re-thought, at best.

Look, we need to make sure that our SWG Developer helps us get to a stable place before he goes back to work on creature mounts, player cities, or whatever else he may have been previously assigned to. I'm not sure that things are OK with our profession yet. I've seen numerous complaints about medical modules not working and then there's the color issue still.

I'm just trying to point out that we still need testing right now, and he may have to help us with some hot-patches in the next few days. We need to bring to his attention anything which has no work-arounds. I spent about 1/2 hour last night trying to color a new droid, (made with an old chassis), and I concluded that it was not possible. Now, maybe I was wrong, and I just don't know the work-around. However, I also had a customer bring a droid back to me because he said that the medical module isn't working. We tested it and it worked fine, but if our customers are seeing problems with these things in the field, then word will get around that they're broken, and we will have lost a major piece of our business until this problem gets resolved and our customers come to trust us again.

So this post is for us, and it's for our developer, (should he read this board). We need to be sure that we're at least playable for the time being, before he moves on to something else. We need to try to test these new bugs ourselves, and our developer should too.

Sincerely.

I have to admit that I'm disappointed. How hard would it be to run a database query to update all pre-patch droids so that they can be colored? Yet I don't see too many people pressing the idea that we get to a stable point, post-patch. The addition of color is a tremendous improvement, but right now we can't even tell the difference between pre-patch droids and post-patch droids, and this will haunt us for months, maybe years. Many DEs still have pre-patch deeds in their inventory. What's to become of these? Moreover, we're still getting complaints that medical modules are having problems.

Look, I'll drop the issue, but finishing this update is a minor job in the overall scheme of things. We should be grateful for the improvements made, but going half-way through an improvement upgrade without finishing the job is still poor policy, and I get the impression that most people are so grateful to see ANYTHING at all, that they'll let this type of poor implementation go by, without any justly deserved criticism.

Sincerely.

So what if someone one-stars your post? It takes a few single star votes before the filters will kick in. And those of us who care have reset our filter to show us all the posts. So please don't go reposting, it just clogs the forum with duplicate posts.
