Hey all -

I see lots of praise, but no one seems to be thinking logically. Most of these modules are useless:

Merchant Barker module - spams every 30 seconds. wow. so more people will hate merchants, especially if we can't ignore the bots. My prediction? Before it's on live the devs will increase the time and allow them to be ignored. But the kicker is if we leave the server boundary it stops barking. First of all, how are we to know where exactly the server boundary is? I've never seen any signs "Now leaving Boundary 00385." Secondly, what's the point of having it if we have to babysit it? The only useful thing it does seems to be giving out waypoints. But to quote Judge Judy, "don't pee on my leg and tell me it's raining." This is a Waypoint bot, not a merchant barker bot. Sigh.

Surveying Bot - You've got to be kidding. If I am standing in the middle of nowhere, the time it would take me to call the bot (15 seconds) plus the time it would take to report back the NAMES of the resources on a different planet, I could go through swgcraft.com find resources on ALL planets, with their STATS, and how long they've been on. Another useless bot.

Structure Maintenance Module - at most it can show 9 structures. Semi-useful. How about 50? or even 20? Sigh again.

Stimpack Dispenser Module - I think most players actually heal faster by themselves than with Stim A's. Obviously, the devs play too much in God Mode, and don't realize how useless this is.

Entertainer modules - these they spend all the development time on. lol lol lol. They're cute, but after watching each one for 5 seconds, you'll be bored.

New Combat Droid HAM - now they have high creature level requirements. Apparently if I need to learn how to tame animals before I can learn how to push the "on" button on a droid. Sigh sigh sigh.

I think the praise is only because DE's are finally getting some attention. We need to make NOISE if we want these new modules to have any usefulness. Remember the Experimentation changes? Many crafters complained and so it was taken off. If we actually say something, we can get things done. Otherwise, we'll have to wait 6 months until Space comes out for anything new, and that will be a pilot module for R2 units. Lets face it.

well it seems u are one of us bitter DEs, which is more then understandable.

but pls dotn be so short minded, ts not that bad like u show us here.

i agree on merchant droids that they will be more then annoying, since i already hate the starport spam. when i complain about that idiots argue, "but ppl need to advertise" BS, they can easily get a merchant skill and use the map registration, thats advertising. the 30 secs starport spam is simply more then annnoying and fills my ignore list quick.

the survey droid will be great imo, that website isnt always on new stand and not correct or missing somehting, i will love that survey droids.

the entertainer droids might be silly for you but i am sure the entertainers will love them, so they arre NOT worthless.

i agree in the medic droid, a stimA??? LOL i dont even know why stimAs are in game when every JA can use Bs at novice without any other skill. they need to revamp that anyways, at nov only usable stimA and get skills for Bs then it would make more sense.

and well to amintanance droids, you got 10 lots so max 10 structures would be actually ok, beside that many ppl share lots but thats not the problem of the devs. 1 char=10 lots. period

so pls dont cry only, otherwise nobody will take the valuable points u got seriously you are right on some points definately but not on all imo

regards

hmm.. I think that you presume that SWGcraft.com is 100% accurate.. and I can assure you that it is not... at least not for Sunrunner. Remember that SWGcraft.com is player-fed... and that if players stop playing, you'll lose that information feed. Also remember that it is maintained by an individual (or consortium), and that there is NO guarantee that it will remain in operation for a year, a month, a day or even a minute. I suggest that you take a longer view of what a surveying droid will provide you should you find youself without SWGcraft.com

Structure Maintenance Module - at most it can show 9 structures. Semi-useful. How about 50? or even 20? Sigh again.

hmm... and just how many structures are you permitted to "own" on an account?

Stimpack Dispenser Module - I think most players actually heal faster by themselves than with Stim A's. Obviously, the devs play too much in God Mode, and don't realize how useless this is.

kalmank, I'm guessing you don't help update SWGCraft if you think the survey bots will be useless. All that data gets entered by players who spend money to travel to those planets. If and when the survey bots work, then people will be able to update SWGCraft without having to travel to the planets. This should lead to the data being much more accurate and up-to-date.

Get real man, I think these changesaregreat additions to the game. Sounds to me like you're the kind of game player who will only play a game of chess if your given all queens and your opponent is given all pawns. Then again, what do you expect from an achiever.

Yup, I think that every time I go tghere looking for the current Herb Meat stats and see only one type of herb meat entered and it's 72 days old. Ok... And I refuse to enter data there for fear that I will be the only one entering it and everyone else willthrive off my work, contributing none themselves.

As for the stim pack dispenser, I think the reasoning behind it. In the old days of DE we had many customers asking why their Medical Module was not healing them, we had to reply they were not designed that way. So we asked for that. We also did not want to put Medics out of bussiness, so we aksed for them to only have healing power of the Stim As.

Hi -

What a surprise that my original post got deleted! This was constructive criticism, but it was the truth, soI got censored. About the survey droids - while everything on swgcraft.com may not be 100% accurate, it is pretty close. And herb meat? The survey droid won't tell you that. All it will tell you is the names of the resources. And that swgcraft almost definitely has for most servers. As for structures, many people rent lots from others - this is a very common thing if you check the boards - we'd like to be able to monitor them all.

So, based yourresponse (or lack thereof) to my other statements, you're absolutely sure.. beyond any reasonable doubt... that SWGcraft.com will be around for years.. Is that your belief? And you know this... how?

I checked SWGCraft today for tolium reactive gas on Sunrunner. Got told it was found on Corellia and a few other planets. I mentioned it in guild, someone headed there and found out that it wasn't there. And I did this check with Verified on.

I take the survey droids anytime.

No one deleated your post, enough people thought it was a waste of board space that they one-starred it. After a while it drops below your visibility level (assuming you've got that turned on)

I myself have pre-orders for 200 survey droids a week from some of the top resource moguls on Naboo.

That's a standing order. Firm.

I'd say just that alone should make this thread's author go back under his bridge.

Well granted the changes arent a 180 change for our professions, and most of the modules need some changes/additions before they should be let into live. These modules are in any case an improvement, where there was nothing, there is something, and something has a tendancy to sell. Where as the positon is debatable weather the changes are "enough" to fix the profession, or wheather they are "good " as in achiveing potential, or even if the new modules will "Sellas desired",its unfair toreject the changes because they do not meet expectations.

Dont forget practicality is subjective in capitalism. Wherebenifitto ownership of aproduct might not be universally appriciated, its granted that theremay be indeviduals will seegreat boonin possession of said object. As a DE you have to thouroughlyunderstand this concept.Droids have always been Toys, andmany of the new modules can be said to reaffirm the status of droids as toys, but toys sell, there is a massiveindustry for toys, thiswhole game is a toy.

Maybe what you would like to see isuniversal practicality as it is prevalent in weapons and armor, where the definition of theproduct is obvious anduniversally understood. But is that even possible? Part of the reality of theissue is coming to terms with the profession, droids are the wild card ofSWG crafting.Theres noone purpose for a droid, like Weapons shoot, armor protects, harvesters harvest, but what a droid does is variable. The thing we have been fighting for is not aunviversal utility, althoughtthatsounds nice, it dosent really apply. So instead we strive for variaity, which is much more managable. These modules increase the varaity of functionsfor our product, whereas none is essential, more is available.Granted thesemight not beenough, it should be an ongoing processs to addmore variaity to droids, just as content is added elsewhere. If this is it for us is this is supposed to make us complete than the developers have seriously misinterpreted their creation.

Back in thegenisis of mmorpgs, there waseverquest. There were to camps of developerssome who wanted to create a well oiled static machine that would be perfectin its frame. The other camp saw the game as an evolution,a more organic creation, rather than a machine. A creation that would grow its frame constantly expanding, the trick was to ensure that all components grew at the same rate, which theydidnt always, and often people feltleft behind because of this.Eventualy the developers who sought tomake the game aperpetual expansion won, and now content is rapidly being added at an amazing pace. As such professions must evolve in this game, there isno"complete" profession, there is no complete content. This game above any othere is structured to accept additions, than any other game ever made. We are in the cradle of our potential, so is the wholeframework of the game we play. Although content may not come quick enough for someof us, it should be known this gamehasyet to take its firststeps in the realm of its potential. Ourstuggle is toinsure that new content is to be added as soon aspossible, and that that content is as usefull as it can concievably be. Our fight is not over with the victory of patch 8, instead instead it is only a milestone in our evolution. We are not complete, yet we will never be complete, however we haveobigation to endure. and to insure future the benifit of our chosen path is felt not only by us but by future the generations flagbearersaswell.

Damnit i sound like an optimist, someone shoot me.
