4. Concerns about only one 'pet' of any kind out at a time.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Our plan here is to first impost a very strict limitation: One pet, regardless of type. And later (but soon) to introduce exceptions to the rule based on the particular pet type. For example, your faction rank will be used to allow you to control more and better faction-perk pets. And your profession will influence the type and number of droid pets you can call (or the number you can call in addition to a creature pet). For example: Doctors, Medics, and/or Combat Medics might gain the ability to call a surgical droid even if they already have a pet of some other type called, whereas a Droid Engineer might be able to call a number of droids of any type, etc.

In the same thread, he said, "Also, we're making your probot tougher."
Wonder what that means.
Question about the top post: who is this quoted from? You don't list a link, or a person who made the original post.
Also, Sintrosi...any hints as to what this new profession might entail, if it were to exist that is? Would it be the new dreaded droid handler type, or the offshoot mechanic type (I only list this because vehicles were stuck in my mind on reading this post)?
Donjee,
This quote is from Thunderheart at the following thread.

Sorry too lazy to encode the URL correctly :-)

Here's the Probot quote in the CH forum. (for those who are interested.)
Does this mean that even if I were a Colonel in my faction, I could only have one trooper with me? And I wouldn't even be able to have my trusty probot out at the same time? handler levels restrictions, determining the max challenge level of faction pet the faction member can control. Let rank also determine how many of those pets may be used at one time, with arbitrary breakpoints set for controlling a second and third faction pet. Make faction rank the operational equivalent of the creature

We want very much to do this, even if we can't do it right now. Also, we're making your probot tougher.

Although not in the CH forum has anyone discussed this bit of trivia from http://swg.egcore.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=News&file=article&sid=462

Kegyen:
I've always thought that a recently launched MMORPG's is like an infant when launched. Healthy and kicking if all went well, but it's true potential is yet to come. Star Wars Galaxies is a great game already, with so much more to come. Where do you envision this game going?
J. Allen Brack:
Excellent question. One of the most disappointing aspects of single player game development is that if a feature doesn't make the first release, it's never going to make it in. This game is considerably different. The development team has tons of ideas and players constantly send in new ideas to make the game better.
We've got a lot planed for the future. Player cities and mounts are currently on Testcenter, with vehicles coming out shortly after that. We are watching the numbers for Jedi and expect to see our first one any day now. We've made changes to both the Combat Medics and Bio-engineers, which should be coming out shortly. We are putting a plan together to add combat droids to the Droid Engineer profession.
We'd welcome it!

Yes, droid certs are in, and the way it is being done is a good thing. Basically the cert works as a +1 Specialty Pet calling ability. The specific example mentioned was the surgical droid. Medics will get a cert that allows them to call an additional droid, which is a surgical droid (no hint as to whether it is limited to the 2-1B frame, or just any droid with a med module). Extrapolating to combat professions, I can see this as a similar thing - go to Commando and you get a droid cert for +1 MSE bomb, got to BH and you get +1 droid cert for Probot, go to one of the other classes like Squad Leader and get +1 droid cert for some other combat droid type yet to be displayed (droidekka?)
All in all, quite positive news. Hopefully we'll get an answer on our concerns right now.

Not us.
Hilarious, sad and true. I areally appreciate the way that the devs discuss CH issues with such specificity and an onbvious back and forth with CH players. I wish we could get the same. Dunno what's up with eth disparity but its getting pretty tedious.
Making a trip to the zoo to hear the latest on droid technology is a little embarrassing!
That said, yay un-nerfed probots! Yay new combat droids! (Although with the softened stance on the lower lvls of CH, it unclear that many people won't elect the batterly-less healable path of Novice CH rather than use our probies.) Time will tell.
