This is my first post on the DE Forum so you guys can shoot me later if there is a post about this idea or not. I have been a DE for about 6 months now, and my problem is this. One of the functions of Droids is that they do stuff for us right? Well they dont, I have read the problems list, and I think it is dead on, but I havent seen a couple of things that would be useful to us, and to other players in the game. They took the structure managment droids out when they made maintenance pull from the bank, Harvesting Droids are becoming useless now with the group harvest re-vamp, and Ranger bonus's, so here is some ideas for new modules for droids
1. A Harvester Structure Module that does the following: It allows the droid to place power into certian harvesters, it removes the contents of the harvester and brings it back to you
2 A slicing module: Docs/Medics get Medical Modules, well Slicing is based upon a + to slicing kinda, well make slicing modules that give you + to slice, this would help Smugglers out, and us out also
3. Repair Module for Armor/Weapons/Clothing etc: Have a module that gives AS/WS/Tailors + to Repairing these things. After all thats what droids do is Fix Stuff
These are just a few ideas that I have had for a while, and why they are not in the game confuses me. I used a Structure Droid to take care of my harvesters Maintenance up until they made it to where I didnt have to.
What do you guys think

I have always liked the idea of a 'One Crate Factory Droid Module' for use by crafters in the feild. Pop your schematic in and your ingredients in the Hopper and off you go. As it is only one crate it would never hurt regular factory sells.
I think it got poo poo'ed though last time it got mentioned. There was a good reason why though just damned if I can remember it. Cursed Brain.

I have a Master Ranger, and I still use a harvesting droid even in a group. It's funny seeing 3 or 4 droids going out to harvest for you. lol
About your ideas though, as a MDE I like them. Just a couple of thoughts go with your idea on repair modules. When making them, add the repair tools as part of the crafting process. Yes I know what everyone is thinking "more subcomponents!!!", but have to add something to the module to make it work right.
Now on your harvester droid, would you make it a droid or module? I would say an expendible droid. Similar to the worthless survey droids. Use them a few times, and then they are done working for you. After all, that kind of traveling can really put some wear, and tear on a droid.

You hit the nail on the head when you said WORTHLESS. ISD's serve no usefull purpose, if they made ISD to where you could add a module to it so it could harvest say 1 unit of all the available resources on the planet that would be helpfull, or if they made it to where it would give you a rough idea of where the highest precentages where. Like say in the sector of the map there is a high chance of a >90% field, not tell you how big it is just tell you in this 4000 meter area there is one. So I persoanlly wouldnt want to see them be disposable but I am not the ony DE out here either

I just cracked into Novice DE and I like the idea. Let's hope the devs do something to make beinga DE worthy with the new revamp.
