Yesterday, I had someone come up and ask me if I could make the "droid body" item, and he gave me a schematic. I had the skills, and he supplied the titanium aluminum, so I made it. Then my schematic disappeared.
My guild leader was talking a bunch about these headless droids tonight, wanting to use them as decoration in our mall's droid section.
What the heck are these things?

They are used for decoration; the headless droid has no actual use. Now, a droid head has been put in the game. Droid Engineers can make them from a schematic from a quest which starts with C-TC3 at Moenia. The quest includes both land missions and space missions. Like the droid body, the droid head is used only for decoration. For me personally, the droid body is serving sodapop in my Museum Cantina and the Droid Head is resting on my workbench in my Workshop museum. Will they ever be reunited? Only time will tell...

the schematic for the body is a limited use schematic (ie makes only 1 or 2 before disapearing from your datapad). its a fairly common schmeatic though, so should be no worries finding another for a small ammount of credits. i dont knowif the head is also that way (since ihavent done the head schematic quest yet).

The head will be much more rare because the quest can only be done once per character.

friend of mine got confirmation the body and head will do something if its put together but the CSR wouldnt say what....

Hmm i got one of each, and i should be getting spares from my guild and or city. I will have to try it out later when i get home from work.
