Haven't seen this posted anywhere, but...
Recently I saw that there will be no more Critical Failures during crafting as of the latest patch (13.1) and the subsequent hotfixes.
Ummm... does that mean that (Crafting) Assembly Tapes are useless? Or do Assembly Tapes have an effect on Experimentation Failure Rates?
Input on this would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

This misunderstanding continues to run rampant on the forums.
The simple fact is: critical failures still DO happen on assembly, but now you WON'T LOSE COMPONENTS when they happen.
Your assembly tapes and whatever are still just as valuable.
Even if critical failures were really gone, the assembly bonus provides better chances of not ending up with a "good" or "ok" success on assembly (and thus experimentation will never be as high as it should be).
So, no impact on your tapes.
The huge benefit (to us DE's) is that you won't lose components - so a critical failure on assembly won't cost you the 15 components that R3 Advanced was supposed to use. Great for custom orders, I'd hate losing someone's custom droid configuration at that late stage of crafting, and having to ask them what they wanted again. Made me feel like I totally sucked.

Thanks... so let me get this straight:
Assembly: Increased Great/Amazing Success chances on Experimentation
Experimentation: More experimentation Points
Customization: Pretty Stat to have on your Clothes

Actually I believe assembly only applies during the assembly of the droid, not the experimentation. The experimentation stat affects the number of experimentation point AND increases the chances of getting an amazing result. I am not 100% on that...would be good to know, though.
Oh and Droid Complexity can go under the "pretty-looking" category too.

Oh yeah... my bad, I forogot about Complexity! I really hope that the first poster is correct and that we do not have a third tape under "pretty looking."
