Anyone know how to get over burn out? I've been a MDE for over a year. I can't get started crafting. How have y'all gone through this?

Take a month or two off from the game, or just from your crafting toon.

There are many other servers to chose from, even though Shadowfire happens to be the best one out there, besides Test Center.

I would suggest finding another server to call for home for a bit and start over from scratch, as a combat toon. Not only does starting out as a noob help to give you a fresh feel about the game, but it also makes you appreciate what you have on your main a lot more.

I'd suggest giving the Test Center community a try, due to its unique community spirit. You will be able to find most, if not all of the equipment that you will need, for much less then you can buy on Live, and plenty of people to help you out in a bind, if you know where to look. And don't forget that on TC you can have 3 toons at once. This gives you a lot of freedom to chose different combinations of skills, if you feel like taking the time needed to invest in the skill points.

I'm getting there, too. I proposed a few things to keep crafters interested over on the Core Systems boards, I think that's what it's going to take for me to not be just going through the motions.

I agree with Drashk. Did I just say that???

Hang up your crafting tools and go fishing (literally). Ever wanted to see what a sunset looks like on Dathomir? Go see. Ever been eaten by a Rancor? Never too late. How many NPC cities in the galaxy have you visited? How many exploration badges do you have? Ever tried to be a musician in a rock band? (Ask Jenden for tips )

The point is that there are lots of things to do in this game. Being chained to a crafting station day after day is one of the least fun ones. I've closed my shop several times and kicked around the galaxy for a while. When I get the urge to make droids again,I come back and dust off the old tools.

This is a game. Have fun!

After spending a few months as MDE (my only character at the time), I felt kinda burnt-out as well. IMHO, I have to agree with Drashk in that creating a new toon can help.

I went for a BH / Carbineer character on a different galaxy, and played it almost exclusively for 3 months. Doing quests, getting badges, and starting all over was a great change of pace. Furthermore, I lurked around other forums and learned about issues / struggles of other professions.

Actually, as of last week I'm just getting back to my DE character with newfound interest, and more ideas about what can be done in the game.

Ya better not make a habit of that.

On Test Center, I havea Master Droid Engineer / Master Merchant,4440 Architect, 4440 Artisan(Calous), Master Shipwright / Master Artisan / Master Armorsmith(Drakalous), and a Master Swordsmen, Master Medic, 0440 Doctor, with a few FS skills (Drashka). I'm once again in the process of shifting around skills and professions to try new things.

I really enjoy the crafting game, but have found the combat game to be pretty distracting as well. After picking up a Power Hammer, I discovered that there is a lot more to this game then one would think. I still find new little tid bits of content each and every time I decide to just explore the galaxy. You would be amazed at the small things that are tucked away in the quiet corners of the galaxy, such as odd bits of buildings.

By spending too much time in one specific area of the game, you shelter yourself off from all the vast expanses that the game has to offer.

Even starting out new and picking up the same professions on a different galaxy can shed light on something that you may have missed before. In some cases, the galaxy that you are playing on may be part of the reason that you are burnt out on the game. The market on one galaxy may be completely different from the market on another galaxy.

Pretty much the best advice is to take some time off. Try something you havn't. That's pretty much what I'm doing (well, to be honest for the last6 months). I don't run a vendor anymore. It got to the point of being "a second job" and I had made my millions from it already. While I don't keep a shop anymore, I have my 2 (yes, 2) DE characters around for experimentation purposes. I know our issues practically by heart and I wouldn't call any other profession forum home than this one.

Which other professions have a forum?

I'm glad this thread came around. Deep down I was starting to feel a little stagnant...maybe I'll take Drashk's advice and go start a combat toon on the TC for a little variety. Three characters, eh? Nice...

Ya... I did shipwright too. AND the resource chasing is getting to me too. lolI have a combat toon that is a master rifles... but for some reason i went the combat medic and trying to grind the last box of crafting is getting to me too.. Maybe i should do the quest... or jump in to pvp/pve...

I guess i feel bad that i have a small name and got a good (i hope) rep and just feel bad for not stocking the stuff that sells other then seekers.

I got talked into the DWB dive and it was 3hrs of watching combat and 1 minute of crafting terror. Fun trip for anyone that wants to try it. lol

I will try to get out and see the worlds. maybe do space combat...

Thanks all ... I was hoping i wasn't the only one going through this. Glad to see all the help on the forum. Thanks vets!
