I noticed something recently, the way droids are sold and set up, you cannot expect to ever have that one uber special droid like Weaponsmiths or Armorsmiths. I mean like you cannot have a droid that a special attachment or special item gives it +100 damage or +1k HAM above the other DEs.

As a result, all one needs to do is go get the right bulk resources and the 2nd or 3rd best spawn of a resource is usually as good as the top, with minimal differences.

As a result, if you do want to make the top quality ones, often times we have to go against not only other DEs, but also typically other crafting classes as well. Case in point: Our Tollium Reactive Gas is HIGHLY sought after by Combat Medics and they are willing to pay huge prices for it.

Unfortunately, as a DE, I have to always keep the bottom line in mind. CMs can justify it saying, "In pvp it will be worth it..."or "I can make it up with mission X..." or a WS will just raise his/her prices and players will generally pay for it if it is top quality.

A DE who raises his prices too much for a little extra quality will be quickly out of business. Why? Because most players do not understand the value of our droids and do not know what the difference in quality really means? An extra Combat Point or two on Combat Modules just means that there will be a couple extra damage points. However, what is the point of that? They don't do much damage anyways. An extra few points of HAM is barely noticed.

However the problem is that like our Interplanetary Survey Droids requires really high quality Gemstone. And there are lots of other classes that can pay out of their noses, but we cannot or else we will lose the bottom line.

Anyways, I am just a little disheartened that we do not have more top end quality items where quality really matters.

Only one that I can see is Detonation Droids. All others can be stacked for similar effect or our customers have know idea what the benifit is from these droids. Heck, half the BHs do not know what a Detonation Droid does!

Also wish that our droid stim packs were a little easier to manufacture. They seem to require insanely complex resources. Maybe they are abundant and I just do not know about it because I am too lazy or something.

Well that is my rant, feel a little better getting it off my chest. I suppose we are better off than some of the other crafting classes (other than AS / WS). It seems that those classes are really hurting from fundamental problems (low decay or low quality is the best quality or lack of player interest or lack of player knowledge). I just think the veteran players are getting lazy and not willing to do what they did early in the game.

But if they give us any thing special we will be too powerful. At least that's the way it's been presented.

Like the uber weapons WS are able to make using kryat, ackley, and gorax parts aren't too powerfull or unbalancing.

The people who buy those weapons didnt spend any more skill points than any other master of the same proffession yet they far outperform others. I'm not arguing against people being able to excell in their fields and make amazing pieces of weaponry and armor, I just want us to be able to excell too.
