I just made a Droid Customization tool today and used it to color my droid, not sure if the color is oging to stick though. Oh and the DEVs better **edit**ing fix experimentation because we only get 1 point of experimentation on the Droid Customization Tool which will leave us with two charges for each tool. The units used are metal and minerals and a control unit and a droid storage compartment. But hey, at least we have color now.

I got THREE charges

Of course, that's using quite good materials, including a 99% effectiveness droid storage unit (the kind my architect friend likes to use for crafting stations), and with 4/3/4/4 skills.

I presume once I hit master I'll be able to pull a few more charges out, but it uses my really expensive materials if I do that. Maybe I'll make a factory run of crappy tools to use.

I've read in another thread of the forum that if you color your droid, store it and then recall it, the color is again the default one

It's more complex than that, and it depends on the droid.

In general, the astromech droids don't hold their color when stored, but even THAT is a little funny. I painted an R2 (both frame and trim) and then stored it. When I pulled it out, it was back to default colors.

So I painted it again, this time just the trim. The frame went back to the custom color I had painted it earlier.

Then I walked the droid into town, and set it on patrol. Sometime WHILE the droid was walking around, I looked at it, and it was back to drab gray and red.

so far, the only droids that retain the colorization after storing it are the BLLs, probots, and tradwells..still testing the rest..experimenting on the droid storage compartment or the control unit, dont add to the charges..just experiment on the final product to get it up there..got 6 charges out of mine that way

LE-repair and Srgicals keep their colors too.

No R-model, mouse or power droid keeps its color though.

And considering that I can't use the deeds I make I can't try any other type of droid.

I have some pretty good copper (800+ OQ, 900+ Conductivity), and I was able to squeeze five charges out of a fully experimented customization kit. I was at Refinement 4 at the time, but not yet MDE.

Surgical droids do not hold their color. I have yet to find one that does, but I can't tame any new droid that I make so what good is there in having a color tool?

Can't sell a droid if no one can tame it.
