Hi - I have a problem.

I bought a "Droidsmith's tool belt" with Droid Assembly: 5, Droid Customization: 5, and Droid experimentation: 3.

The belt had 4 sockets available.

I bought a skill tape with Droid Assembly: 12.

I added the skil tape to the belt, but instead of it now reading "Droid Assembly: 17" it reads "Droid Assembly: 12", so I've LOST 5 points!

Can this be rectified at all ?

Thanks

Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo! ... /sigh

You're not the first one to fall for this bu... err.. intended characteristic honey, I'm afraid that's the way it's means to work, only the highest value is in effect, so your +5 is ignored and your +12 is in effect. For future reference (& there's an old feature thing on tapes and such available from the SWG main site) tapes that have multiple values, only the highest one of those is added to an item so Droid experimentation +12, Droid Assembly +13 will only give a clothing item the assembly bonus (unless of course the clothingitem already has assembly >+13 in which case you will get the experimentation).

Sincere sympathy for your loss but look on the bright side, you've go the best damned droidsmiths toolbelt in all the Galaxies

Kisses

Dammit. Thanks, Cass. I've sent a bug report in in the hope I'll get a "refund" - lol -

Had I added the skill tape to another item of clothing, wouldI have had a +17 over all if I had worn both items?

Correct. If you added it, to say, gloves, or a Wool Knit hat... You would have had 17 total.

Like she said, you cannot add a tape to an existing item stat to "merge+combine" values. It's fubar in regards to how the attachments work...

SNAFU's happen, but it is still a PITA when the person finds out later on what can or can't be done.

You can have a total of +25 to any skill. A couple of things to look at for, when dealing with skill tape usage are as follows.

  • Do not place more than one of the same bonus into a single piece of clothing. You will end up with only highest + bonus.

  • Try to stay away from attachments with more than one bonus. Attachments with multiple bonuses have been known to drop one or more bonus when added to clothing.

  • Only Droid Assembly and Experimentation tapes are worth the effort of using. Customization isn't extermely useful and Complexity tapes no longer work. All other Droid related skills are BH related.

  • Try to use a pants, gloves, shirt, jacket, hat, and boots when ever making a bonus outfit. This allows for the largest number of clothing items to add a bonus to.

Sorry to hear that you were hit by this bug...er I mean feature.

Do they (Droid tapes) only come for clothing?

Might be nice to have a non-destructable Ubese shirt and other armour types just for those "oops, I got bit!" mistakes when doing harvester runs...

I don't remember off hand whether or not the Ubese shirt can accept Clothing atttachments or not, butI want to sayyes, if it has a socket. I've never seen an Armor Attachment that has a crafting bonus, but they may exist. Other than that, only Socketed clothing can take CAs.

That's one of the reason all my crafting clothes always stay in my workshop.

I fyou don't get hit, they'll never be destroy.

But, if only one of the bonus of the toolit apply, wich one is it?

I believe it's assembly, but not sure of that.

The Kit is a crafted item, so all of the bonuses apply. Its socketed attachments that go haywire.

You can also keep your Droid Tape clothes in a storage droid. Things don't decay that are inside a Droid.
