Thread: Socket/Module/Cluster Question

I'm just starting out on the path of droid engineer and have gone and got myself a bit confused..

I've looked at the FAQ and the guides and so forth from the sticky but they seem to conflict in some of the things they say about how modules work.

My confusion lies in the use of Socket clusters verses Service Modules, verses general modules and so forth.

From what I can gather you can put any module in a combat capable service cluster.

But there is mention of a general module socket, and a service module socket and a service module cluster.

In one of the guides it mentions you can put a socket cluster in a general module socket, but this is a bug and it might not work. I don't want to go doing this but I don't want to do this by accident either and find I have a number of droids which partialy work...

I think I am quite clear on what a Defensive module socket is, its for armour modules right?

Is a droid service module harness for putting a droid module in directly and a service cluster for putting in three droid modules which go in a cluster socket?

As you can see I'm probably half there but have managed to get my knickers in a twist..

Thanks in advance for any help you can give me

Correct

Basically yes
As you can see I'm probably half there but have managed to get my knickers in a twist..
More than likely, yes again
Thanks in advance for any help you can give me

Yup.

General socket clusters and combat capable combat clusters are the same thing except for one point; droids which can be equipped for combat (probot, astromechs, LE repair droid, and the DZ70) must have the combat clusters in them, even if you aren't using any combat modules. General clusters are used in the other types of droids. No one really has a good reason why this is the case, so we just go with it.

In one of the guides it mentions you can put a socket cluster in a general module socket, but this is a bug and it might not work. I don't want to go doing this but I don't want to do this by accident either and find I have a number of droids which partialy work...
I don't believe that this is the case. I wouldn't worry about it.
