Thread: Questions from a new DE
Hi guys, I am just getting a DE character going, and no, my Holocron did not tell me to do it, I just want to make droids.
I have a few questions.
First, is experimentation worth anything in DE? If so what does it give me when I experiment on the components of my droids?
Second, how much difference am I going to see when making droids with low OQ materials versus very high OQ materials? And what differences?
Third, Why on Endor would you need to have 6 modules in 1 droid? i.e. R3 Advanced?
Anyway, I am sure I will have more questions later, but thanks in advance!
There is one place that I have seen where material quality/experimentation makes a slight difference. For advanced probots, good quality fiberplast makes a small difference in HAM, 820 as opposed to 810. So yes, for all intents and purposes, material quality/experimentation makes no difference.
And as for 6 modules in one droid? Well, if you're not a master, you can stack 2 lower level modules to get the same result as a level 6 module. So you could put 2 lvl 4 data modules, 2 lvl 4storage modules, a repair module and a crafting module, and get the same result as if you put1 lvl 6 data, 1 lvl 6 storage, repair and crafting...
Well, I guess that is good to know, but bad at the same time. If it is broken that means we can just use any resource, but it still sucks that it is broken!
So the components do not really make any difference in the product is what you are saying?
Not that I've seen. The only place it may make a difference is in the crafting modules, but there really is not a definitive way of testing this. My advice would be to use the best materials you can reasonably get your hands on, in case it starts working and is retroactive to previously crafted droids...

As a new DE myself. I was wondering why at 0/1/4/3 i should only have 3 experimentation points. It seems like i should be closing on 6 points. Or is it just wishfull thinking?
We don't get enough experimentation points as DEs, this is supposedly addressed on Test Center, or being addressed there. As a master I only get five experiment points.
This is yet another reason not to waste any 990+ materials you have. You can't get the full benefit of great materials without experimentation, and you won't get dramatically better results with five points on 999-OQ materials than you will on 700-OQ materials.
