Just a random thought..it would be kinda useful to have a droid or a component in a droid that could survey for you. Not do sampling but work kinda like the survey feature of the survey tool so you know the best place to put a harvestor. Maybe there could be different components for flora, minerals, etc. surveying. I'm not a DE but something like this would be helpful to me as a doctor trying to find resources. Any thoughts or comments on this?

There have been many, many thoughts and comments on this very topic. It's actually a very popular idea, and has been raised and discussed quite often here. Most of us seem to favor some variant of the survey droid, the only devil is in the details of certification for use and such, such that things do not become unbalanced.
