Thread: Everybody be nice to Thunderheart, I don't want him to be angry while he decides our fate
BTW, If your reading this TH, please remember not to ignore all the short term bug fixes that have been plaguing us since beta.
How about this:
"Devs, be nice to your customers / players. You don't want them to get angry and cancel their accounts because the chronic, aggravating, and infuriatingproblems and bugswith the DE profession are not being addressed. (Oh, and vapid lip-service doesn't help either).
That's all I have to say... ![]()
FeartheMullet,
I just want to remind you and say that Thunderheart is NOT a developer. He is a community representive between us and SOE. I don't think it is his job to make ANY decisions on any professions what so ever. He is simply here to relay information.

True, yet another reason why people shouldn't be complaining to him.
BTW is it just a bug with my browser, or did my post just get stickied?

A lot of people were angry at the first incarnation of "THE PLAN" because it didn't address the bugs. My personal take on it is that the PLANs that TH is postingare meant to reflect the long-term goals of the profession, rather than the short-term bug fixes, which I'm sure are being worked on. I imagine that the changes he talks about would take place after orpossibly during the bug fixes, not instead of them.
It would, however, be nice to see a "we're working on these bugs {list here}" type of post...
Thunderheart is exhibiting all of the signs of someone new at their job.
He is full of enthusiasm and eager to do his job. This also causes what appears to be frustration and burn-out over time. You start to see subtle changes in his posts where they become more defensive and "sharp", but maintain an upbeat facade. He'll need a vacation soon.
He uses vague wording because he has vague information. He says things like "tomorrow morning the DE responses will be my top priority." People love to hear that because it leaves enough room for our imagination to fill in the gaps with expectations. Some people interpret that to mean there will be a post forthcoming "tomorrow morning". Perhaps his statement should have included the steps involved in the process before anything is posted. I'm sure much of the process is out of his control, but he still has to answer for it. We may find that we should be shouting at whomever is responsible for approving the post, or providing the dev feedback, or maybe even Bill Gates because their Windows based platform keeps crashing when they try to respond.
By now he must realize that his job is to hold water in a seive. Actually several seives. He pours in information and replies in one, and watches the others drain out, thinking "I'll get to those soon".
I for one intend to be patient and watch for new information when it comes. I promise not to make more out of a post than is truly there. And I will not allow frustration to blind my reason.
But....
Thunderheart, I see two avenues your future here can take. One will be the "We'll look into it." single-sentence responses that you and I and all of us have seen in the past from those that know they can only give hope, not facts. Or, you can give the facts that are there to give. Rather than tell us about your priorities for the next day, tell us that you will colllect the data, tabulate it, present it to someone for feedback (thus taking the heat off of you, that's the key), and hopefully will have something to present by the end of the day. Then if by the end of the day you can't finish, we'd like to know where it is in the process.
I know you have a tough job and I appreciate the work you have done. This is just my suggestion to help you in your efforts to keep good communication with the thousands of people that are waiting on your every word.
Im not "deciding your fate"
Im going to work WITH you to gather all the info ![]()

Unless you turn... to the Dark Side!
[Just kidding Thunderheart! I think you're the best thing to come along since flouridated water.

I look forward to improvements, but in all honesty THunderheart, you dont need any more help from us. THere are a coule sticky threads up top that will fill you in until you cant absorb any more.
Polls, you say? I say NAY!
I can pretty much guarantee that ANY bug fixes you make will be welcomed by this community. Even if the feix isn't what we weren't expecting. We all know the game will change and evolve. I expect the Skill Charts to be virtually unrecognizable in a year.
I say Fix First, then Poll. Let us spend that week talking about changes you ALREADY DID, instead of what the Devs are "thinking" of doing. Dont make us wait another week in a broken profession. I find it hard to believe it can be broken any more than it is without serious and deliberate effort.
Crys, DE, Test Center
p.s. When I say "you" I sometimes mean the Devs....I'm sure you already figured that....but to be safe...

yeah, I just found that out.
My goal now is to gather all the stuff you guys had to say when we posted the DE plan...
