Thread: Sintrosi : Make A Plan

OK, it seems that whatever TH has thought about is, in several parts, off the mark of things that DEs want. There is a ton of stuff that has been pulled together in different threads. TH seems receptive to changes for DEs, but I think he needs more guidence that has been gleened from perusing the threads. As a DE, with you being a great correspondant so far, Sintrosi, I vote that *you* put together a DE Change Plan to be submitted for acceptance.
I think this would be more productive than TH making a list and asking us what sucks about it, especially since he seemed receptive to decisions you suggested (even though people are having a hard time finding whatever TH was talking about, heh). I would be more than happy if the chain was: We talk with Sinstrosi, Sintrosi talks with TH, TH talks with Devs (and Sintrosi talks with Devs for issues with ideas). When TH talks right with the community, there is a barrage of non coordinated and sidetracking threads. I don't need to talk right with TH since I only represent 1 person in the DE community. I feel that, being the correspondant, Sintrosi represents us as a whole and am quite happy with that.
My thought was that Sinstrosi could put together 2 lists based on the ideas, concerns, and currently organized material.
The first list would be 'The Plan'. This should have 2-3 tiers.
The Plan
Tier 1: 'DE Core Changes'
This would be changes that are desired in the DE profession which would be the core of our improvement needs. I would suggest that these items are ones which could be added without a huge need for code rewrite. An example of something in this would be additional modules as per the module thread (since modules already exist). Something *not* included in this would being able to give a droid a large sequence of commands (cool, but could be a hard thing to do fast since there is not really a method right now). The idea is a prioritized list of items which could give us improvement in the near term. I would include large needs that are identified if if they take a bit to code, such as new combat chassis (if the final plan determines this is something we need). As stated, this list would be prioritized so we can indicate which features would be desired more/sooner than others.
Tier 2: 'DE Long Term Needs'
This would be additional core needs, but ones which could take longer to implement or which are not as important as the core needs. This would include the droid sequence programming as before (as an example).
Tier 3: 'DE Misc Needs'
This would keep track of other DE needs which could improve the quality of our profession, but not a core need. This allows us to keep track of ongoing lower priority ideas.
List 2 : Bugs
The second list would be 'The Bugs'. Yeah, we have one already, but it is mixed up with wishlist and lacks priority. I think we really need to prioritize those so we have things for devs to focus on (and for us to constantly ask about). Perhaps weed out 'bugs' from wishlist and prioritize the bugs.
I, for one, am willing to let Sintrosi and any group he wants to pull together organize this list. I personally do not need 5 rounds of 'ok, is this list cool now?'. I am sure that there will be items I disagree on, but I feel he can productively make this happen and finally get some forward momentum on the DE front.

Sintrosi is now away until Sunday. SHE is taking a well-earned vacation. You might want to bring this back up early next week...
