Thread: Easy droid certification system

I have not read this before, so I apologize is this has been suggested previously.

TH mentioned that a droid cert system would be overpowering. This is what I recommend.

The most droids anyone can ever have out is 1.

Droid certifications go EXACTLY in line with mitigation. Melee mitigation earns you a melee droid of that power (melee mit 1 gives a cert for a light melee droid, melee mit 3 which is only in master boxes gives a cert for a heavy melee droid).

Ranged will work the exact way.

This would be incredibly fast to code, since the mitigation system is already in place. This could not be exploited to have an uber template, since you could only have 1 droid out at any time.

It would also give us a wide variety of droids, since melee mitigation will earn a melee droid, and ranged mitigation will earn a ranged droid.

Further elaboration...

When a Bounty Hunter obtains investigation 1, he will get ranged mitigation 1. This will translate into having a certification for a light combat droid that does ranged damage.

When a TKA obtains master, he will get melee mitigation 3. This will translate into a certification for a heavy droid that will do melee damage.

Each droid can be experimented on for more damage, more resists, faster regeneration, more HAM.

This creates one main problem, how do you balance out the system to compensate for the increased strength of these professions. You can't adjust the capabilities of one group without having to have a corresponding adjustment (either a decrease in the profession that has gained the new ability or an increase in every other profession as well as the environment). The net result of that is no change in balance (as it should be) however it does essentially require combat droids for players to be at the same (relative) skill level they were at before.

SOE has been doing this for years.

How do you compensate?? Instead of making changes which costs money and sells nothing new to the customer, you work on an expansion pack with harder environments.

You sell the harder expansion pack, which requires these droids, and everyone ends up happy (if you don't mind shelling out the dough for more content).
