I am working on creating a master artisan/master weaponsmith/master merchant...That leaves me with 47 sp or the abillity to get 2 4 tier boxes and one tier 3 box. The question is, could I make anything worth while without mastering...

to be honest DE is a bit involved to be a dabeler. here is a quick rundown of the trees.
Tree 1: This tree hold most of the modules needed to give droids function. you woulds need 4 boxes to get the ability to experiment
Tree 2: This tree holds some additional modules most noteworthy being the combat module, combat cluster and droid armor
Tree 3: This tree grantsall theexperimentation points and customsation optionsbeyond novice. as well as the droid repair stims.
Tree 4: This tree holds all the chassis and deeds for making droids so 4 boxes are required to make adv. R2's and probotsthat hold 5 modules. R3's are the only droid that holds 6 modules which is at master.
so as you can see DE is problay the most entwined crafting proffesion. so to answer your question if you go 4/3/0/4 you would be ok but the lack of exerimentation would require you to stack almost all your modules going into a droid.

If you want to be able to create something that will generate a fair amount of income without Mastering DE, getting the fourth column will allow you to make seekers and arakyd droids, which are consumables for bounth hunters.
