Thread: My Ideas For Driod Engineer!! Combat Oriented
That being said, I actually like the idea of a DC in some form. Maybe we need to field a few DC proposals again and see what we come up with. Perhaps using some of your ideas!
I honestly do not understand why some people want DE to have combat functionality. We are a crafting profession, that is all. Combat capability of droids is fine as is. None of the combat droids you saw in the movies were pets / companions to humans. Thet were a remotely controlled droid army (read here: MOB). The key to improvig Droid Engineers is not to have it include ever more combat content, but tools for other aspects of the game.
That is not to say a droid could not possibly help out in combat, perhaps a 'distract' function where the droid made MOBs lose thier targeting ability for a short while. Maybe the NEED to have a droid out to get the inexplicable detailed world map and radar with perfect GPS capability. Have protocol droids do something (or get rid of the language thing as it is everyone knows every language within the first 15 minutes of gameplay). Have the crafting station droids give a bonus to assembly/experimentation. Greater functionality for R-units in space (repair, way faster droid commands, etc...)
It seems many people have decided the only way to have droids be useful is to have the deal damage. There are far better uses for droids, they are just no as obvious as 'shoot that'. Droids should not be 'pets' they were portrayed as companions in the movies. And that is what they should be, invaluable companions that make tasks easier/more efficient.
Though in the interest of actually giving the DE something special, they should be able to use everything they make. None of this "You must be a scout to use this module"; no I made it, I better be able to figure out how to use it
