I am a Master DE and just started playing again after 2 years or so off. I am thinking of dropping this prof to work on FS training. I have a respec coming and want to know if there is any reason to keep DE. Also, if I do drop it, should I build myself anything before I drop? I just finished building a lvl1 - lvl6 flight computer.

Also, where can I find info about astromechs specifically. I read the stickies and it sounded like they can add damage depending on what modules installed. What advantages does an astromech give over a flight computer? what makes an astromech an astromech? I don't have schems specific to it. Any help would be appreciated.

Computers are used by Imperials and Freelance pilots and astromechs (R-Units) used by Alliance pilots.

As a piloting device there is no difference between them, however the R Units have extrafunctionality possible dependantif you choose a different droid to R5. if you add a combat module and an armor module it becomes a land based combat droid of Level 30. If you add a medic module and other items it would increase its use to something other than piloting assistant. Computers dont have that facility.

before I left, anyone could use droids. Is this still the case? Meaning if I create myself a bunch of droids, will I be able to use them all if drop DE?

Do/Can flight computers/astromechs do anything other than the engine, capacitor, weapons stuff?

Anyone and use droids. But, you have to have certain skills to use certain modules. And effects module, you need Novice Entertainer. Creature Harvester(?) needs Scout. Medical needs Novice Medic a least. Seekers and Arakyds need Bounter Hunter. You need to be qualified in pilot to use certain levels of astromechs. There are others but I can't think of them all.

As for FC and astro droids, they can only run commands like Cap. To Shield Shunt, WO, EO, CO, and others like that. Look on the Pilot FAQ to see all the things they can do.
