Thread: Coloring Droids
I recently made Master DE and along the way I spent some time checking out how coloring of the advanced chassis work in the game. As I assume that someday they will fix the bug that is keeping us from crafting real droids with color.
Anyway I just wanted to share a few observations of the coloring system that may or may not be additional buggs they should workwhen making this work.
- The C3 Protocol Droid chassis never allowed me to change the color. Yet we have silver and even sort of pink C3 units in the game.
- The R2 Unit had a space to select the background colors for both the body and the head but they were only ever white. I couldn.t even make that horrible red on grey R2 that is the default.
- R4 Units looked awsome. The white on red and yellow on green combos make great house decorations.
- R3 Units, well I only made a few chassis but as I take orders for these I will experiment further.
- LE Enginer Droids they colorednicely, howeverthey never did haveRed as an option like the other droids.
- Probot chassis with color seemed way too dark, seems like putting colors on them only colors the highlights on a dark frame, even white looks black to most people. But I do have to admit red stands out. I have a red probot chassis in my shop and it looks real cool.
- Surgical Droids are kind of weird, white ones look ok and I am sure I could sell alot of these if I could make working white ones. The odd part about surgical droids is you can color the arms and legs a different color than the torso and head. This looks kind of odd and probably isn't necessary.
- Binary Load Lifters these chassis can be made in many colors, and look great. Now we need binary load lifters to have a slot other than defensive modules only. Cummon devs how hard would it be to make one of the defense slots on the advanced BLL a general droid socket module.
Hopefully the other droids (MSE, DZ70, WED, R5, Seeker, and Arakyd) will also eventually allow coloring, but since they dont use advanced chassis we'll have to wait and see how cool they look.

Here's what I've noticed before I made my way up the refinement tree:
If you had a droid that defaults to a colour that you cannot yet choose as you don't have a high enough refinement skill (such as the blue on a R2 unit), and you had chosen to colour a droid in a previous build, the droid chassis will not go back to the default colour (blue in this case) but will be one of the colours you can actually choose.
Gosh, I hope that run-on sentence actually made sense.
Hmmm, here's an example:
1. Build an R2 chassis. You leave it at the default blue. No problems.
2. Build a LE Repair chassis (or any other chassis) and colour it white. No problems.
3. Build another R2 chassis. You can no longer build it in the blue colour and are forced to choose one of your available colours (such as black).
The only method I've found to allow you to go back to the default colour is to log out completely. Or, advance up the refinement tree

Colorizing chassis was working really strange for me this morning. I was filling an order for a customer who wanted Probot, LE Repair, Surgical, R4, and R2 chassis. Since I've nothing in the refinement tree, I told him they'd come out in the default colors- the ones the draft schematics show.
Well, the Probot chassis did, but the others did not - the color choices for the LE and the 21-B droids were only shades of yellow.. and the R2 and R4 chassis did not offer the default blue trim. I made a R2 Chassis for myself when I got expert blueprints and he came out with blue trim by default/ These didn't - I had to make the trim on the R4 unit gray and the R2 black, because the default was white trim.
Oh well, the R2 with black trim looked really cool...
But still, what happened to the default colors?
