I have renamed droids before. I renamed my DZ Driod without problem. However it was a while ago. Before the last few patches. I have tried to rename my new R2 driod a number of times. It will not take. Is there new rules to naming droid I have missed? Pease help.

Ok I'm on right now and just tried to again ... I programed 5 seprate commands with the name I want. Maybe it is the name "R2-AK1". Huh. Well I'll keep trying.

Consider this a bump.

Ok I have found that it doesn't like the name.

What are the naming restrictions for droids is now my question.

I believe is has to do with putting numbers in the name, I haven't been able to name any droids using numbers.

To start with droids followed the same rules for naming as players, which means, no numbers. The devs have recognized that's a problem, but I confess I don't know if the fix has gone live yet or not.

Unfortunately, the "solution" they proposed was just to allow numbers in names rather than to make the naming rules for droids different from the naming rules for players. So it seems perhaps the cost of being able to name your droid "R2-B7" is having wookies running around named l33tb4cc4 (*barf*).

I usually just name a droid like they named them in the movies - Artoo Detoo and See Threepio for example.

I had a Droid named Arfoor Exone (R4-X1)

yes you can not have numbers in the name of droids.. you can have numbers in name of droid furniture.. but that needs to be done at time of creation by the DE,

I plan to have R2-D2 and C-3PO in my guild Hall (once i can make the protocol frames)
