Thread: Droid Ownership Capacity

As I understand it, A DE can hold 5 droids, but others can only hold 3.

By making mice and storing them inside a mouse with a data storage mod, I found I could own more than 5, as long as I only had 5 in the datapad.

Later, I sold a droid with a datapad to someone while I held one of his current droids, so he wouldn't exceed the max of 3 that he's allowed to hold. I couldn't transfer it back to him until he put one of his droids into the droid data storage compartment. So far, just what I expected.

But then, he moved the droid from the data storage compartment into his datapad, giving him a total of 4 droids in his datapad.

I had to log before I could make mice to see if I could repeat this, but has anybody else tried this to circumvent the supposed maximum?

I think anyone can hold 5 droids. DEs don't get to hold more droids than anyone else. We are able to build them but we don't get any special advantage in controlling them.

That said, you shouldn't be putting droids or pets into data storage modules. This is a confirmed bug and is being fixed (removed). You aren't suppose to be able to do this.

I've never done that. But I do use data mods for something similar. I make MSE droids with item mods in them, name them Storage-One, Storage-Two, etc. Then I store them in my R2's data module. It makes a virtually limitless storage system so long as you keep making MSEs

But I have a bad feeling that the devs will nerf this. They always nerf things that are actually usefull.

that is not a nerf.. thats a bug.. it was never designed to be able to do that.. here is why..

every person has the ability (without houses) to hold 220 items (includes hats weponds shoes peices or armor etc..) Thats the design. With lots you can up that 2 about 1000.. now this l;ast number the devs don't like but they hoping that people do not get 5 small house.. so lets assmume they allow a quota of 380 items.. with a small house

okay now lets take in you typical ISP.. that gives you a quota of 10Megs of mail. Now they over sell the disk space.. no medium or large ISP has the disk space to allow each customer to reach their quota.. just too expensive.. (granted thats being less the case as time goes on but they will hit a barrier some time with current harddrive technology)

So I'm fairly safe in assuming that the devs are over selling the quota for inventory space. If everyone uses 380 items the game performance will degrade.

Now put in this that you can have droids that can carry 1000 items a peice with your MSE in R2 units.. now everyone can have 5000 addtional items.. now that you can put data droids in data droids this gives you (expensivly to you no doubt)

one person can litterally have a million objects bobly taking up close of a gig of space alone..

this is why i do not sell data modules.

Being able to make droids that can be used is a bug they are working on.

I've got the same feeling, mostly because they've explicitly said they're going to nerf this. The ability to store pets in data droids is an exploit.

Just as a rule of thumb, anytime you use the phrase "virtually limitless" to describe something you're doing in game, you're probably describing an exploit.
