Thread: A few Probot questions for the pros from a customer
Since they took out permadeath, I want to get back into the droid market. After my last one blew to pieces I said 'no more' and went the way of CH. But now, I'm thinking otherwise. I have a few questions if you wouldn't mind answering. These may sound like newbie questions to you but I'm not a DE.
1. The difference between a probot and an advanced probot. I think I've heard it's is the difference in armor and modules. Can you explain exactly how an advancedprobot is better and what armor/mods it can have and what they all do?
2.Seeker driodslast for 10 charges? What does that mean? What's a charge?
3. Do bots heal their HAM while in the datapad like creatures do? Is it worth buying 2 or more bots and using one while the other(s) are healing in the pad?
4. Like a CH with Management 3, can a player call 2 droids at once?
5. I want to be able to buy the best probot that I can for fighting as I'm a Commando... all about fighting. What mods or armor or whatever should I look for to be of most use?
Thanks much in advance!
The difference between *any* advanced and basic version of the same droid comes down to the number of armor and module slots they contain. Oh, and the amount of complexity and time that goes into crafting them, of course.
I the case of probots, only one armor module can be installed ina basic model, but two can be put into an advanced. Since armor stacks to provide additional benefit, you can get a much tougher droid this way.
Seeker droids are used by bounty hunters, and we can't make them cheaply enough to make bounty hunting worthwhile. So now seeker droids will work ten times instead of only one.
They do (will) heal in the datapad.
Noone can call two droids at the current time....
The best possible probot would be an advanced model with dual armor 6 modules, theoretically. As of this morning (before the patch), though, dual level 4 modules were good enough, because nothing higher worked properly. This gave medium armor of 40% value, in a bot that costs probably anywhere from perhaps 15 to 30K, depending on your DE/server/planet. Additional modules CAN be added to the probot, but the value of doing so is perhaps questionable.
Great answer! Thanks.
When I'm looking at a deed on someone's vendor, is there actually a way of knowing what I'm buying, as in, what armor it has? Or is the only way to know if a probot has dual 4s to examine it and see that it has 40% resists?
AFAIK armor and resists don't show up when examining a deed (they should!).
Unless that's changed in the patch, of course.
I think this is where it comes down to knowing and trusting your supplier.
Once it's tamed, you can see the values in your datapad.
As a DE, I do carry a few pre-made droids on a vendor, although I honestly prefer to custom craft them to customer specifications. I always custom-name these pre-made droid deedsto indicate just what modules are in them.
