I'm ready to get a full complement of droids, and I'd like to clear some things up in my mind before I bother some poor guy in game with my questions .

I understand we can have 5 droids in our datapad at a time right? So I'd like to get 5 droids, each droid must have item storage, that's the main reason I want them heh. I also want datapad storage if possible, and one droid must have a clothing/armor station, 1 droid must have a weapon/droid/general crafting station, and if possible I'd like one droid to have a food/chem station. And 1 droid must be a combat droid (but still must have item storage, even if it sacrifices some combat abilities).

So after reading through the info I could find here this is the set of droids I'm thinking I'd like to buy.

1) Adv Binary Load Lifter: It has one module space right? So I could get a BLL with 10 unit storage, but nothing else? Does armor take up a module spot? Could I get a BLL with 10 unit storage and Armor?

2) Adv DZ70: 2 module slots. I'd like this droid to have 10 unit storage and 150 unit datastorage. Can I add armor as well? After item storage, data storage and armor is there anything else I can get added to this droid?

3) Adv R2: 5 module slots. 10 unit storage, 150 unit datastorage, weapon/droid/general crafting station, and armor. That leaves 1 or 2 module slots open, is there anything else I might want to stick on this droid?

4) Adv R3: 6 module slots. 10 unit storage, 150 unit datastorage, Clothing/Armor crafting station, barker module, armor. That leaves 1 or 2 module slots open. Anything else I might want to add?

5) Adv Probebot: 2 modlue slots. I'd like for this to be a combat droid, something I could call to protect me from nasty kooks and the like. But it also must have 10 unit item storage. With item storage, and combat capabilities (and armor if possible) what sort of combat droid could I expect from this?

Ok then, those are the 5 droids I'm thinking of commissioning. Are they all possible? What sorts of other modules might I want to add? Any alteration or changes you Droid Masters might suggest? Could I add a food/chem station to any of those without bumping any of the items I want? Is a probebot even worth making as a combat droid if I add an item storage module to it?

Thanks for any replies and info y'all inpart

edit: ooo and what sort of prices might I expect to pay for each of them? I know prices vary wildy from server to server, but a general price range (so I don't get either ripped off, or rip off some poor droid engineer) that I could expect to pay would be great.

1) Adv BLL can take three modules. No, armour is separate to modules. Yes, but if it gets attacked it'll just run away anyway.

2) Yes, you can add armour as well. No, after that it's full.

5) Adv. Probot has 5 slots not 2. With 4 combat modules, you'll be looking at a damage output of 160 - 170, compared with around 180 -190 for the max combat version.

I'll leave the pricingfor those on your server.

doh! heh. the faq I was looking at seems to be very out of date.

Ok then, revised droid list of what I want to look for.

1) Adv Binary Load Lifter: 3 non combat moduels, 3 armor modules. - So BLL with item storage, datapad storage,weapon/droid/general crafting station, and 3 armor modules.

2) Adv DZ70: 2 modules, 1 armor. - So item storage, datapad storage, and 1 armor.

3) Adv R2: 5 modules, 2 armor. - Item storage, datapad storage,food/chem crafting station, medical module, auto repair module, and 2 armor.

4) Adv R3: 6 modules, 2 armor. - Item storage, datapad storage, clothing/armor crafting station, merchant barker module, ??, and 2 armor.

5) Adv Probebot: 5 modules, 2 armor. - Item storage, combat module x4, and2 armor.

those all look good/possible to everyone?

This should work, though I do have to say having 3 armor modules is a waste since it maxes at 20% armor. That is one Level 6 Armor plate.

2) Adv DZ70: 2 modules, 1 armor. - So item storage, datapad storage, and 1 armor. Um, yup.

3) Adv R2: 5 modules, 2 armor. - Item storage, datapad storage,food/chem crafting station, medical module, auto repair module, and 2 armor.

This will also work well. Again, it is maxxed at 20% armor, which is one Level 6 plate.

4) Adv R3: 6 modules, 2 armor. - Item storage, datapad storage, clothing/armor crafting station, merchant barker module, ??, and 2 armor.

I was thinking this could have the food/craft station, medical, and STIMPACK dispenser. That would make more sense to me.

5) Adv Probebot: 5 modules, 2 armor. - Item storage, combat module x4, and2 armor.

Oh, just in case you think this one has the ability to hold more armor...Nope! 20% max.

those all look good/possible to everyone?

Just for your information...

The datapad can only hold manufacturing schematics (the ones you make.) It can't hold waypoints, pets or vehicles. A max Datapad can hold 150 I believe. You are going to be very hard pressed to fill that with schematics.

So you may want less datapads and put some other stuff in there.

As a DE, if you came to me with this order I'd have the following suggestions/comments:

Well, first off, unless it's a combat droid or you expect to be using the droid in a combat situation, I wouldn't bother with the armor. It's usually an added unnecessary expense. It's kind of like wearing composite armor to craft.. yeah, you can do it, but what's the point? Also, for the droids with armor, 2 high level armor components are no better than 1 due to the cap that's placed on droid armor.

Second, What are you? If you have scout skills, might I suggest a harvesting or trap launching module? Are you a medic, or do you have a friend who's one? I'd suggest the stimpack module. Dancer or Musician? In that case an effects module.

I noticed that you asked for an autorepair module. A single auto repair module will likely not be of huge use, esp on a non-combat droid. Usually we'll stack them up in a probot and make a "tanker" droid out of it. Only does 1 dmg, but heals itself for 99ham/10 seconds. They're great for keeping something's attention while you blast it.

The Merchant Barker module is only usable if you have Merchant Advertising IV, and as droids suffer from similar autostore issues as vehicles, it's most useful for giving out the WP to your shop, not actually being a barker. Also, once it's power runs out (1 hour), it stops barking, so you can't leave it by its lonesome all night long.

1) Adv BLL - Are you sure you want a BLL? they're overly expensive for what they're worth, unless you just want it for the "hey I've got a BLL" factor :-) It's about as useful as an Adv R4 or LE, and a bunch more expensive. I'd put storage, maybe a crafting station, and a structure maint module in it, could do the same with an R4 or LE droid.

2) Adv DZ70 - I love these things :-) Item Storage and Data Storage (however, you know that data modules can only hold manufacturing schematics right? nothing else)

3) R2 - Storage, 4x Harvesting Modules (if you're a scout) or Stimpack Modules if you're not), armor

4) Adv R3 - Storage, Medical, the 3 crafting (you can stack them now), and Merchant Barker (so it can bark while you craft in the middle of town)

5) Probot - Storage, and depending on what kind of combat you want to do, either 4 combat modules or 4 autorepair modules, and armor.

Looks like everyone has recommended the best changes for you

I charge thru the nose for BLL droids.. they are like the "bmw" of droids in my mind. Big, flashy, expensive... A nice status symbol! (think 100K)

Generally, you can expect to pay between 40-80K i would say for most of those droids. I'd charge you somewhere in there maybe a discount tho, for ordering 5 at one time.

cool, thanks for all the info. The reason I want all the datapad storage is for organizational purposes. Put old obsolete schematics in one droid, put schematics from one set of armor in another, put schematics for another set in another. I'm an armorsmith and while I'm in the midst of producing a set of ubese I have around 16 schematics all in various stages of completion, add to that my last set of ubese schematics that I don't want to get rid of till the next set is fully finished and my datapad is getting to be a special kind of hell on earth . Then theres the set of psg's i'm in the midst of making, the composite I'm experimenting with, the wookiee armor I'm experimenting with, the artisan thingamabobs I'm experimenting with, and I weep each time I have to open my datapad .

Most of that other stuff I'll never use, like the food/chem station, but you never know for the future, so I'd like to get the biggest range of usefull modules for future use. The BLL I want just cause they look cool lol, and cause I want different bot types to make it easier to remember whats on which (and I don't like the 3po or other humanoid droids).

But anyways, an auto-repair module is mostly worthless with just one? Ok I'll strike that off. And I had been planning to make the r3 the droid I call most of the time (having it the armor/clothing station), but I think I'll switch the r3 and the r2 around. make the r2 my clothing/armor crafting station, and make the r3 the one with the medical stuff.

soo

3) Adv R2: 5 modules 2 armor. Item storage, datapad storage, clothing/armor crafting station, merchant barker module. 1 armor.

4) Adv R3: 6 modules 2 armor. Item storage, datapad storage, food/chem crafting station, medical module, stimpack dispencer. 1 armor.

and the rest as they were in the last post. I want the crafting stations split up, each droid for a seperate use. And I never plan on hunting with this character so no harvesting or trap dispenser droids.

And just 1 armor per droid I guess (or however much they need to max it). After all, you never know when you're poor droid is going to get shot at! Those town meatlumps and kooks are nasty buggers heh

OK, looking through I think I've finalized what I want, and what's possible. Thanks you all for the help

ooo, one thing tho. Will the stimpack dispenser interfere with the item storage module? The way I thought the stimpack dispenser works is by letting you put stim a's in the droid, and then the droid uses them up as it's commanded to. Does the stimpack A storage interfere with the normal storage module at all or can they coexist peacefully?

Thanks again

They will co-exist just fine.
