Nice link.
Really just remote control, not evne true robotics unfortunatly. We have been using stuff similiar to this for a long time now.

Hehehe...yea, I know.
Still, it's interesting to see it actually being deployed in theatre and made public. That says to me that these will be a part of most every armed conflict we have from this point on...
I imagine some kid somewhere in a room with an XBox controller.

My honest opinion is that it is more of a PR move then anything else. Something to show that we are trying to come up with new ways to save peoples lives. Which is good, but it is still a PR move
Hitting a target is well and good, I would be curious to know how long it takes to align and orient on that target, especially a moving one.

HeHe, "it can operate for 1 to 4 hours at a time" .... some of the designers are playing SWG
And with the size of 3 Feet... hey, it could be the next RL MSE ^^

Mmmm...yea, but an MSE that can 'paint' a target for a Cruise missile strike.
Let'ssee that kind of droid module get added to SWG.

Heh, that would be cool. Heck I would be happy with a remote scouting module

yea, I do have to wonder how long it takes for the guns to actually swing into position and track a target... its not hard to rig up a machine to hit a stationary target.

I've always belived that when the military tells the public that they have a certain weapon, chances are they already have something better comming down the line or already in use.

Of course that's the case.
If you buy an off-shelf-PC (okay, DEs wouldn't do that...but bear with me
), there's already another in the queue and yet a 3rd on the design table somewhere.
