What is it like money making wise? Trying to find best profession for me

You can make decent money as a DE, but it takes a good deal of work to get there. Its not like chef or armorsmith where any random guy can pick up the professions and make millions. The profession is pretty complicated (one of the reasons I love it) but, in my opinions, is quite fun. Others consider it frustrating though, so I guess it all depends on what you enjoy.

I like the complexity ofa droid engineer. Sometime you get request from people you think are rather strange until you think it over yourself...
But, it must be said, a lot of DE stuff is borked. It's mostly medic110 droids, entertainer droids (effects), data storage (150 schematics), harvesting droids (106+, very hard to make), and crafting station droids (or combo's). Most would be protocol droids and/ro the adv r2, r3....
There could be much more with if it if ever the SOE devs would mind pulling some strength together and make things actually work for the better (see improvements lists).

If all you want to do is make money buy high ber power generators and sell your power, if you want to be in a overly complicated crafting profession this is the one for you.
