Thread: woooohoooo I made novice DE yesterday!!!!
With luck I should join you tonight or tomorrow.
The very first character I started was a human that I worked up to novice architect. Not 5 minutes after I spent the skill point to open the novice box, I realized that I didn't really want to be an architect. Since then I have played a series of different characters on other servers. I have had fun with them all, but wanted to try something different.
Since I already had a bunch of artisan experince on this guy, I decided to come back and turn him into a DE. My only problem is, the server has matured since I left, and there are not many people looking for the skills I can teach. I have all the boxes for Artisan filled, but only 300 apprentice points. I am almost afraid I will need to get a second account to make me a full time student to get those points. I will wait until I fill up the DE boxes as well before I would resort to that.
So right now I have an almost master artisan, and I need about 10k more exp to open the novice DE. I don't really expect to get rich as a DE. I really just want to be able to make all the different droids to see what they look like, and what they can do, without having to go out and buy the whole set from someone else. Also I should be ready to craft vehicles, to see what they look like when they get added to the game.
As far as the whole combat droid contoversy. I really expect this character to be more of a city boy. I hope to buy most of my resources, and hopefully not have to engage in combat at all with him. I don't see a problem with either salable combat droids, or a limited number of DE only ones. To those who think that having a DE only combat droid would bring in hordes of people to compete with them for the market, I just don't believe that someone who would take up the profession just to get a combat droid is interested in selling droids. He will make himself one or two combat droids, and put away his crafting tools forever.
Congrats!! Welcome to our little Adv. Droid Frame!

Now, if you have access to 1.7 Million units of metal, and around 1 million units of fiboplast, you can make it to Master DE in one sitting ![]()
While trying to do the grind, I had 2 wind generators, 4 personal mineral miners, and 2 chem miners going around the clock. Once I reached a level where I could grind out Adv Frames, I would let harvesters collect materials for 2 days, then empty them, grind out frames, and then wait 2 days to do some more.
With personal miners on 70% areas, this method allowed me to get about 50K exp a sitting in around 22 mins.
Of course now that med and large harvesters are common, you will have a much easier time making the grind. Unless you are rich, forgo buying minerals from other players. If you have your energy supply on a good spot, and mines on spots higher than 60%, your cost per unit can be as low a 1 CPU.
So unless you are rich, or in a big hurry, your best bet is to harvest the energy and and metal/fiboplast yourself, and run a few missions on your off days.
