There seems to me to be a mistaken perception that DE can not a combat class....WHY?? I am a MDE and have a lot of my Pistoleer tree as well. I love combat and want to add my MDE skills to that part of my game. You can have more than one class in this game. Adding a DE only combat droid would add a lot to this game for guys like me who want more out of this game than to just sit and craft and make money...which I do a lot of anyway.

I really want you purists to think about the game as a whole and all those who want to enjoy every aspect of it.

We are thinking of the game as a whole, but not just in regards to DE. As you've said before, you can have multiple professions, this means if you want to participate in combat, then you shouldpick up a combat profession. If ever profession had a little bit of combat and crafting, why have different ones? Just imagine if a master pistoleer could craft the best pistol in the game, or master BH could make his own seekers and probe droids. If you really want to do both, pick up smuggler, it has both, and in good moderation. DE is already strongly a crafting class, if you were to start introducing combat aspects to it you greatly disturb that delicate balance. I'm not talking about new players wanting "ub3r p0wr!", I'm talking about breaking the rule that you have to make choices, and those choices often hurt, but that is part of the fun, thats what makes each character distinct.

I think one of the primary reasons for allowing us to make characters in multiple galaxies is so we can indeed "enjoy every aspect of it." 250 skill points forces you to make choices about your character's abilities, and that is by design. Part of the fun of SWG is having to make those tough decisions on which skill boxes to go after foryour character.

I'd love to see a extra droid that is a bit more powerfull then the normal combat droids and that is DE only,

Or what also could be nice is to allow DE's to have out a extra droid to make them a value member to a squad and not some guy with a droid anyone else can have too.

Jenden,

I want to craft droids, I don't want to be a bounty hunter. But, I want to craft droids and have them to use in battle....to me that is what is fun about the game. If we were to have a DE only droid, which I don't care so much about (I just want to be able to craft a good battle droid that I can use and sell), then I could use it. If you don't want to use it you don't have to. I am just not sure why it is so hard for some people to accept that DEs could be combatants as well as crafters/engineers. And Eutox, some of us only have time for one character, so your arguement doesn't fly with me.

Belal,

We understand that (or at least I'm pretty sure that Jenden does also). Do you understand our concern too, though, which is that by giving us a superior DE-only combat droid that non-crafters will be drawn to the profession and ruin the droid economy?

To paraphrase you, we just aren't sure why it is so hard for some people to accept that DEs don't need to have inherent combat ability as provided by a DE-only combat droid. If you want combat ability, then pick up a combat profession. Why does Droid Engineer need to be changed into a combat class for you?

I use my current droids - as lame as they are - in battle all the time. I'm a Droid Engineer, but I'm also a Rifleman. I have chosen to make my character a hybrid without forcing that same decision onto each and every other Droid Engineer out there.

The 250 skill point limit is there to force you to make choices about your character. This whole push for a superior DE-only combat droid is really just another attempt to get around that limitation.

I dont think DE's should get a "Better" droid than anyone else, or DE only droids, just because we can make them. Weaponsmiths and armorsmiths dont get "Better " weapons or armor. ButI do think our droids should be on a level that is equal to what any other weapon is. And "Yes" , they would be a weapon if they were combat droids. Currently I am a DE {3/0/0/4}. I am also a master artisan, have marksman skills, medic skills, pistoleer skills, and scout skills. But I only have 5 points left. So I will start turning in some of my other skill sets as needed, to make MDE. The decision on what i turn in is what will make my character different from every other player out there. But if i want to continue to do combat, guess what? I will turn in non combat skills. ButI can still make a battle droid. That would suppliment any combat skillsI decide to keep. I wont be "Uber". But I will be a challenge to take out. And as part of a group,I would have my place. I would be like a pistoleer with a fine pistol. Some people will have better weapons, some will not.

just my 2 credits worth
