and the droids name cannot have numbers, it uses the same filter that players use when they make their name... so no R2D2

... and you can't re-name the droids that converse with you to be programmed (as opposed to using the "Program" option on the radial menu). The Surgical Droid is the most commonly seenexample.

I think he's referring to RE-naming droids, not naming them... Right?

For example, "a probot droid" named "Bob." Can you RE-name "Bob" so his name is now "Phil?"

I haven't really tried, so I don't know the answer... Anyone else?

Yes, the night before last, I renamed a probot from 'Buy-me-email-Rho' to 'test', because a customer was having trouble with renaming, and I needed to demonstrate. It worked flawlessly.

90% of the problems that people have with re-naming droids come from illegal names, which includes length. I've been bitten by that one myself many times... so often thatfor a while that I was convinced it wasn't possible to re-name droids until some friendly droid owner on Tatooine showed me it was possible.

(Yeah, I know, I should have just tried Bob...)
