In short, let (non DE) Crafters, have Droid leve/number out advantages. In Addition (would be additive to) to the bonus DEs get. Crafters in general have more combat alternatives for the skillpoints they cant spend on combat classes. DEs get a DE perk from M Art. We, get more sales.

The thread i posted URL to explains in greatere detail. And includes an idea to give similar bonus to entertainers, in reguards to creature pets.

As well as the already discussed idea of giving other classses droid advantages. (but adds the idea for similar creature advantages)

The problem I can see with this is that it doesn't promote balance. Each profession has its unique traits, artisans can craft, marksman can fight, CH's can control pets, medics can heal, etc... what this does is takes away what makes some of these professions special. If a crafter can craft and fight for just as many skillpoints as he can fight, why would he ever be a marksman? There's a difference between balance and equality of professions in all things. professions aren't supposed to be equal in all things, their all supposed to be equally good at their own individual things. I still don't understand why we get all these posts about crafters wanting free combat skills, I haven't seen any posts about combat characters wanting crafting skills afterall.

Does too ! (g)

>Each profession has its unique traits, artisans can craft, marksman can fight, CH's can control pets, medics can heal, etc... what this does is takes away what makes some of these professions special.<

No, it really would keep the differences. But it would make crafters more like DEs (in combat) and entertainers more like CHs. Tho I wouls expect DEs and CHs to be definatly more powerfull with the number and level of pets they could have. Especially if they also had Entertianer/Other craft skills. A DE with Master Arts could be more powerfull n combat than one without. Or a DE with master entertainer could too. In a different way. Or a DE with naster marksman in yet another.

>If a crafter can craft and fight for just as many skillpoints as he can fight, why would he ever be a marksman? There's a difference between balance and equality of professions in all things.<

I see your point here. My goal is noot for everybody to be equal in all things. Just for crafters/entertainers, to have a chance at being 'competitive' (not quite as good as a totally combat speced player. But good enough to 'get by' at soloinng tough content. Like a combat spec, but not quite as uber.) And I mean Chance. A total entertainer, or total craftsman would not compete. (like a Master Arts, Master DE, Master Merchant, with architec skills for power cores and harvester making, would ne be a very good combat. But master DE with master arts, pistol 4, ranged, and relavant scput skills maby could.) But a DE, or Master dancer etc. If they spent thier remaining points wisely could still be an effective combatant.

>professions aren't supposed to be equal in all things, their all supposed to be equally good at their own individual things.<

Yes but some things are different. 'Most' people do care about the ability to fight in a game like this. And for those who dont. There is still room here for thier style to be expressed. Completely focusing on crafting. you would not be a very effective combatant. And these suggestions could be of use to pure noncombatants as well. An entertainer could still get to that wilderness gig safer and faster on a higher level mount. Craftsmen, could have more an higher droids for the Craft stations, the storage, the repair or powering functions and what all the stuff droids will do after the DE patches/love.

>I still don't understand why we get all these posts about crafters wanting free combat skills, I haven't seen any posts about combat characters wanting crafting skills afterall.<

Like I said. I thibnk combat skills are different for most. As are the ability to get 'money'. I think you do see pure combats, wantinh an equal chance to gain wealth. Some care absolutly nothing about combat or wealth, or a nice looking wardrobe, etc. But 'Most' Do !

And this will leave 'Variety' in the game. A DE could be, but wouldnt have to,, be a valuable unique addition to a hunting party then. Just as a master musician could with his unique sonic weapon, etc.

Its more like more difference than less. They woukld have more difference to add to a hunting party, more than a wattered down weaker dose of same.

At master DE, you still have 158 skill points left.. meaning you can master almost any other combat class as well...

OR almost master commando AND DE...

Now for one of your customers (specifically BH) they have 33 skill points left at master, meaning it would be difficult for them to use a droid that had a level limit like creatures do...

One of the points to have Droids (in the SW universe) is they do what you tell them... doesn't matter if you make them or just use them... otherwise the are just metal 'creatures'... IMHO

If someone wants to be "competitive" in combat that they need to go out and buy a gun and get certified to use it. It's about cross-dependency instead of cross-pollination.

Please read the thread i linked to, in my original post

http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=Development&message.id=931143

It includes the concept of proffessions like BH, having droid level/number advantages. In my 'vision' they wouldnt have as much ability as DEs in level of droids, number of droids 'out' or number in data pad.

But, because they are a proffession that uses droids, (and maby cause they only have 33 skill points left over), they would have more 'droid advantages' than the average profession.

Whilewhich specific bonuses to give to what specific professions, would/will take a long time to work out. I recommend, starting out giviong DEs, level/number 'out' advantages, then progressing to some set limit raises to other master crafters. Then on to Creature limit raises for entertainers. Then to specific perks for specific proffesssions (like BH)
