Thread: why cant devs make new models for the combat droid change

dont know about you but i havent seen 3cepo shoot a blaster in any of the movies
I haven't either...
Then again, I didn't see 10 graul maulers, 75 sludge panthers and 50 people sitting on carrion spats in any of the movies town squares either.
And as I recall I didn't see a whole lot of zabraks or wookies either. Despite that they are ALL OVER the place in this game...
I've said it before and I'll say it again: The Continuity card can NOT be played anymore. Continuity flied out the door the second week of beta.
Sorry, but it's true.
The reason is that they have to have new models made or sprites.. old term not correct...
That takes time and people and resources that they dont have access too. Quick fix is to give Humanoid droids guns as its easy to do... later they may make a change

Whree are you guys getting this? I haven't seen anything about existing droid models going the combat route. The only thing I saw was a vague reference about C3PO models getting combat animations. It didn't say a word that it was being turned intoa combat model.

Weird, my post seems to have been erased...
Well, anyway, what I was saying is that people see that combat animations have been added to 3P0's. 3P0's cannot fight at all right now - they just run away. There is already a run-away animation. So, the only logical reason that the devs would add a combat animation to the 3P0 droids is to allow them to fight.
This is just wrong, in my opinion. They have droideka animations from Lok already.
Now, maybe they will use the same model with a different texture for combat droids. If that is the case, that would be all good.
In any case, I sincerely hope that they do add new chasis for new droids. An R2 with a grenade launcher or a 3P0 with a flame througher might be somewhat amusing, but it is not Star Wars.
Running away is the droid behaviour using the basic movement animations. You'll notice (or perhaps you won't, not many people have protocols) that every time they are actually *hit* in combat they don't do anything. They dont' flinch, don't try and dodge. nothing. Most of us DEs actually believe the animations cover when they get attacked (as most the time they just stand there and take it without flinching or dying)
However, there is another theory going around. We're due to get new combat droid models, and at least one of them is humanoid (so the rumours go). Almost all humanoid droids look the same in terms of size and shape, so the same combat animations would probably fit all the humanoid droids, combat or no. Therefore they just finished it off and implimented it in the existing droid(s) that can use the animations but didn't have one previously. My thoughts on the matter anyhow.
