Thread: Just wanted to point something out for DEs in reguards to combat droids
Hiya, I think this is my first time even looking into this forum since I'm a bio-engineer and well frankly the DEs have been so broken and useless I haven't even bothered sparing the profession a second thought, but I wanted to make a point about the new creature system and the current situation with combat droids you have.
First of all congrats on getting some attention, yes it was needlessly vauge to the point of almost saying nothing but then again at least it's better than nothing at all. I hear complaints that the probot is still useless and wanted to point out that actually it's a hell of alot better than the new standards set for non-ch pets. First of all your heavy armour droids are AR1 plus they have 40% resistance to everything. When you compare that to the CL10 animals that non-ch are now going to have to use you'll see that droids have a significant advantage since the highest you'll see for the pets in reguards to defence is around 20-25% for a few select damage types and totally no armor. So already the probot has a significant advantage over pets.
Also consider that the droids will operate at long range and these supposed combat modes might even allow them to kite or use something similar to warning shot (which would be great for keeping animals away) on the whole I think you came out in top in reguards to the new pet standards, so please remember to take stock of the total situation as it now stands rather than looking at how ineffective the probot used to be and how powerful it was even further back than that.
Very good point. I, personally, am thrilled about the proposed changes. As I've said many times, I just want to see some specialization in the droids in the proposed plan, and I'm happy as a lark.
Some things between Probots and Pets....
1) Probots can generally take quite a beating, but they don't put out damage. Pets, however, put out a lot of damage, but can't take as much of a beating.
2) Pets can currently be healed during combat, Probots cannot. That will change in the plan.
Now, in my opinion, Creature Handlers should be the supreme "Attack Pet" class. We have some attack droids, sure, but they should only ever be 2/3 the effectiveness of the best CH pet, and even those combat droids should be regulated with a Cert system. We create droids for utility as well (an area that is lacking for us), and shouldn't be turned into a "mini-CH". The problems that Creature Handlers have been having is that it doesn't take much skill investment to reap their benefits. One line, maybe two, and you have basically everything you can necessarily need from the CH line to be useful in combat. Therein lies their problem.
For us, it's a matter of us only having two types of customers (Medics and Crafting Station Droids), and everything else is unnecessary.
