And I almost crapped. Ok, its very plain to me:

1. We need droidekas for Master DEs (maybe Advanced version with shield generator for MDE and basic model for DEs with blue prints 4 or some other DE skill). Droidekas for master DEs must be AT LEAST aspowerful as the best CH pet.

2. We need those trade federation troopers droids to sell to non-DEs. I got an idea: no weapons for these droids when built, but owners can mount whatever weapons they can use on them, or some something like that.

Heh...I was watching Episode 1 last night too, while I was grinding my way to Novice DE. I was thinking the same thing. The Droideka's are around on Lok, but they can't be made. The Trade Federation Army droids are just non-existant in the game. I kinda wonder though, if they're waiting to see what happens in Episode 3. Because what if the entire race of creatures who knew how to make these droids were wiped out of existance by a young Darth Vader? Obviously the $#!% is going to hit the fan in Episode 3 and the SW Universe will go through some major changes. There's no Trade Federation Droids in the original Trilogy, so perhaps they aren't around at this point in time anymore. However there should be more combat droids. The Probots are weak, and they shouldn't even be used for combat. They're made for searching (the one that landed on Hoth wasn't out to attack anyone, it was one of thousands of Probe Droids sent to find the Rebels. Recon not combat). This game is obviously geared towards having pets. Creature pets are widely available. Faction pets are pretty common too (as they should be). Nobody has droids though. Definately need some combat-class droids in the near future.

it would be cool if we were able to actually customize stuff....

if we can make a BLL, whichhas a frame similar to an at-st, why cant we make one with weapons.

and yes, we should be able to make droidikas, when you see the trainer theres abroken one by the crafting machine.

lack of customization sucks

I'll agree that we should be able to make combat droids but I'm not clear on weather you are talking about the droidekas being for DE's only. If not you can ignore the rest of this post pretty much but if you are I think this would be a serious mistake. I've mentioned this in another post but it has been burried since, so I'll bring it back up. DE's are not, should not, and had better never be a combat class. I am a DE because I enjoy making droids, as are most of the DE's that are left. If they are all of a sudden turned into a combat class, or given combat droids taht would rival CH's, many of them would become DE's. This is bad for us for a couple reasons. First of all, they wouldn't care about anything in the profession other than the combat droids. That seriously skews the view that people would have of our profession. When they see a master DE and ask if they could buy a droid and the person says they don't sell droids.... then most likely that person will have more of a negative view of DE's. Second, this devaules all of the honest DE's, making our products worth less and resources cost more with an increase in the number of DE's. Also, this means that not only do you get to sit there explaining how droids work ot customers (I have absolutely no problem with that, I see it as part of the profession), but you will also have to explain how droids work to other DE's that should by all rights know whats going on. Finally, it would be a rather large addition for the dev's (It may not seem like it but given the way droids are working, it would undoubteldy entail countless bugs that would need to be resoved) that would benefit us very little. You would make what, 1, maybe 2 of them and that would be it you'd never touch the schematic again?

I agree in a way to the statement that it would bring a large influx of DE's who don't actually wanna make droid, but there is one small thing you are forgetting. If the combat droids were to be mostly a DE thing or you would need to master say 3 of the 4 trees most people who could have the choice would probably go CH, not that CH is an easy profession and before i get yelled at i realize that any true CH who actually wants to be a CH has put alot of long hours in just like a novice DE grinding his way to master DE. I am referring to the CH whose only purpose is to get enough experience in CH to get a large pet to go tank with. I just don't believe that will happen with DE as long as you make creating the more powerful combat droids something that will take you grinding most the way to MDE. I know grinding sucks and I want to be a DE and not for the combat droids but for the love of making droids. I can't imagine a Master Commando sitting by his mining installations waiting for them to produce the resources needed to create 700 some odd MSE droids to make MDE just to get a powerful battle droid, that he may be able to buy from a MDE. If anything I think it needs to be a higher level DE function to make the useful battle droids. That way we can keep the real DE's out there selling their wares and any wanna-be's who just want a quick fix to their tanking problem out. Just my opinion you can love it or leave it i guess.

Yup the combat droids and droidekas would really rock, especialy if they topped out right around a CL30 level of creature. useful but not overpowering. ar1 and 5-6000 HAM would do, maybe 25% resists for droidekas.

Just the same or a touch stronger than the non CH pets that all the non CH are about to lose. About the strength of the medium faction pet troopers.

I don't think many players would object to that, it wouldn't seriously imalance things a lot, and with the big creaures all looking to get amped up anyway it could be taken into account at that time.

Would definately see a LOT less pets that way and a lot more star warsy feel.

Why do we?

If you've been paying attention the Probot got nerfed because it was too hard and anyone could get hold of one and take on stuff far harder they they should have. The non-CH pets are similarly up for the same kind of nerfing (see creature thread pt2 by Thunderheart)

The devs went on to say that _if_ harder combat droids were to be added they would require something like certs to control who could use them - the DE community came out against droid certs because they totally break the concept behind owning droids (to do the jobs you cant and anyone can use them)

So......if we got the droids you are asking for, at this current point in time they would be no harder then the Probot, and I'm guessing you wouldnt want that would you?

Personally (and I know others agree) I want to see what we have fixed before they start adding more.
