Thread: 'The Plan' is not perfect, but please, stop complaining that it does not address bugs!
A quote from Sintrosi's 'CONCERNS' post: Also of note. These things in the plan are a completely different category than bug fixes and fixing what is already wrong with us. Just because they give us MSE bombs doesnt mean they wont fix things in Gorantoth's compiled list first.
Let's keep the discussion focused here, it does no good to get angry over a false shortcoming.
THANK YOU !!!
after this i beleve that if we got all the bugs fixed in one patch the DE's woud start a thread called
WHAT NO DRODEKAS ?!!?
this maynot be the best plan but ITS A START that can be refind by use of the Correspondent system! let try to be creative and not negitive
if i was the DEVs i would say **SELF EDIT** them all if thats how there gona be. sorry but the negitve ness has pissed me off
There are two major problems with Droid Engineering as it exists:
1. There are bugs with the current stuff.
2. The design of the profession needs enhancement independently of bug fixes.
They need to address both, and it isn't a good idea to ignore #2 until #1 is done, because even if #1 were fixed today, we'd still be bleeding players from the profession. The document we got Friday addressed #2. The best thing they could do would be to keep refining that document while fixing things from Gorantoth's list.
How much more incensed would you have been if the "Plan" had been posted and it had just been, "See that list by Gorantoth? We're gonna do some of that."
Kit:
You're right in that both issues need to be addressed and worked on. However, the bugs need to be addressed first, before addressing (which I don't believe they have, with the vague "list") future development of the DE profession. If they want to address future development, fine, but please at least give us a timeline. This stuff in "the list" is probably 5-6 months away, at the very least 2 months. A lot of our current issues could and should be fixed before that. All I'm asking for is a timeline, plain and simple.

No more incensed than if we'd received a list that said 'Well we got a couple of half arsed ideas, that none of you really wanted, and well we may get around to doing it, but we're not gonna even give you a hint of when we'll even get around to it'.
So pretty much as incensed as I am right now really...
The problem is that its difficult to know where we want to go if we dont even know where we stand. The plans all well and good but I'd rather have the current content fixed than nothing for 3 months and then a boat load of new (broken) content.
A good example is combat droids. If the HAMs were increased there would be less need/pressure for new combat droids or combat modules. You therefore cant really comment on any new combat droid plans until you know if the current content is going to stay how it is indefinately (in which case they should just remove the combat command from a DZ70)
Thus we need to at least know what the devs confirm is a bug, confirm needs tewaking or confirm is how its supposed to be before we can move forward.
If you read theplan it does seem to try to"address" some ofthose bugs. There are many points where it is stated "It is perceived that X is not working." For instance, power, repair, and surgical droids. All things that feature on Gorantoth's list. This is their plan for getting them to work. Oh and what about protocol droids and binary load lifters. Those don't work either. Some argue that none of the droids currentlywork since you can put unlimited modules into any droid, one of theutility module types does nothinguseful (data), andmore than one slab of level 6 armor does nada...
"The Plan" is more like the devs wishlist for things that they think will make us happy. They are now finding out that they should have stated it as "would you like these things" rather than building it up for weeks as "The Solution to DE Problems" and then dropping it on us.
The end of "The Plan" says that those three things are what the devs are going to start working on immediately. Sorry, most of the posters here don't like those things as stated and are posting very well reasoned objections to them on Sintrosi's "Concerns" thread.
Everyone protesting that they want to see a guarantee that the issues on Gorantoth's list fixed first are speaking from the right place. Fixing the issues in that list have the possibility of keeping my subscription current. Waiting for the implementation of a bunch of deus-ex-machina sweeping changes to the DE class that turns us into a droid handling combat class will only get me to cancel my subscription and re-enroll in a year to see if progress has been made.
I don't know why the plan did not contain smaller, easier to obtain wishlist items. For instance, a wider variety of utility modules for droids that make them do lots of interesting things. The proposed list has been broken down by category and posted here many times. Slicing modules, entertaining modules, weapon accuracy modules, regeneration modules, delivery modules, the list goes on and on...
It isn't realistic to believe that all the bugs or all the ideas represented in the Plan will be implemented in a single patch. It will take time.
Time is also the key to restoring faith/trust. We all know from our interactions in our "real lives" that once someone loses faith or trust in you, you can't correct their perceptions overnight. It takes repeated, sustained effort -- both action and communication. That's what we need here.
The complaints won't stop after the next bugfix or the next introduction of a new feature. They will decrease over time, however, if SOE regularly chips away at the buglist while firming up the Plan.
Anyway, this is a relationship issue between SOE and disenchanted customers. Discussing it amongst ourselves probably won't fix it.
True, Gorantoth, and I suspect lots of people would help you pull that trigger.
So many of the items in your list persist from Tyim's beta thread. It is just silly. It is sad. Bleh.
