Thread: droid questions from a non-droid person
hi
i am a non-droid skilled person. i dont have any artisan or droid like skills but do have some questions.
what type of droids besides probots can a person without any droid skills use ?
what precisely do these droids do ? for example if i bought an R3 droid if i could use it, what would it do for me ? or a seeker droid ? or C3-PO or one of those boxy droids on 2 legs. info in general with regards to this needed.
how exactly do medical droids work and do i need any droid skilsl for them ? the otehr day one of my doctor group mates was complaining about a "crappy" medical droid being out and him being unable to use fully his skilsl because of it, can someone please explain this to me ?
Anyone can use any droid right now. Also any droid can have any modules right now, so an R3 could have a crafting station, item and data storage, a repair module, and a med module.
As for med modules, they allow medics and anyone else skilled in medicine use to use medicines outside of a city or camp. They come in 6 levels, level 1 lets you use medicine at 10% of your mex ability, pretty low. Up to level 6 which lets you use medicines at 110% of your ability, much better.
So the medic was complaining about a low level medic module that restricted what medicinces he could use, and how well they worked.
ok, cool
what do the seeker droids do ? anything usefull ?
and protocol droids ?
Protocol droids are expensive and nearly pointless. You can get a bit of the same functionality in them that you can in any other droid.
2 more things
1. how is Droid Difficulty Level determined ?
2. whats the highest difficulty level of a droid, usable by a non Droid engi, non artisan, non BH (another words someone without a single point of any droid skills whatsoever) ?
2) You can use *any* droid without training any skills. At least, you can own and order around any droid without training any skills. If you have a crafting station in your droid, you need the skill to utilize said crafting station. If you have a medical module in your droid, you need at least a bit of novice medic in order to make use of it.
The *only* droids that you cannot use are the same ones that this Master DE cannot use: The only two profession-specific droids in the game, the bounty hunter seekers and probes.
1. Have a food/chem, weapon, structure crafting station (like the public ones or private ones in the house, but mobile).
2. Have a Repair module to repair other droids
3. Have a Medical module to allow medics to heal in non-tent/non city areas (there are different ratings which affect what % of their normal healing capabilties are given). This, luckily, is one of the few things shown in the datapad view of the droid.
4. Have Item Storage (like your backpack, but does not count vs your inventory or backpack). The best is 10 slots.
5. Have Datapad Storage (like your datapad, also 10 slots, and only wps I believe can be storeg).
Each model of bots can take a certain # modules. A lil MSE droid, for example can take only 1 while an Advanced R2 can take 5. Bots are stored in the datapad like animals and you have a limit on how many you can have, so obviously the bigger bots allow you more functionallity.
Calling is limited too, like pets. Camps & cities.
Really, aside from the # slots, the rest is cosmetic with how broken special features are.
We do have 1 combat robot, the Probot. A piece of crap on offense, *but* can be loaded up with decent enough armor to have it a nice lil meat wagon (there actually is also the DZ70, but such low HAM that a baby durni will kick it's butt). Too bad we have no equipment to heal the damage they take, but be thankful!!!! They no longer die forever when killed.
First, datapad storage is limited, not to waypoints, but to manufacturing schematics. It's truly useless to virtually everyone in the game.
Second, I've recently seen evidence, though I'm waiting on others to confirm, that repair droids are taking care of white-bar as well as black-bar damage. I need to go find someone with badly wounded droids and experiment a bit more, but it sure looks like repair modules are really repairing.
I wonder if THAT is what they meant by fixing the 'droid repair tool'...
