Thread: Combat, Droids and Creatures a way to fix it!

TH, I hope you read this and pass it along. I suspect it has already been suggested, but the idea seems so obvious that it merits repetition.

The first problem: Pokewars. There are FAR too many CH's out there, and worse, far too many people who are NOT CH's running around with critters. Its like Wild Kingdom rather than Star Wars.

The second problem: The case of the missing droids. I look around and see virtually NO droids. I am always surprised when I see someone toting one around.

---------------------------------------------------------------

Solution(s): First, limit even further what pets non CH's can have.

Second, a partially revamp of the DE tree to include one whole branch of "Combat Droids" -- Lets face it - this is Star WARS. We, as a player base will engage in FAR more combat than the Lars's. There should be several types of combat droids available. Fast Ones, Tough "Tank-Like" ones, Nuker ones, etc... Basically, if you can think of a role in a group combat, there should be the ability to use a droid to accomplish it.

If I were to go hunting with 3 or 4 people, and we has a few droids taggin along, that would feel MUCH MUCH cooler than Mountain Lions, and Lizards, etc...

****Creatures in Moderation. Droids EVERYWHERE!!!****

One thing to remember.....CH, as a profession, is not hard to master. You don't need a lot of boxes in that skill line to be able to reap the main benefits of having a Creature Pet. And since creatures tank so much better than players do, it makes sense for people to invest in that skill tree as a means of defense while they safely do the damage.

Making players a bit tougher against monsters is definately needed as well, I'd argue.

I agree completely. Total pet/creatures in the star wars series: a couple hundred (and none overly major except to serve as housing for Luke). Total droids in the series, including MAIN CHARACTERS: Many millions (counting the droid army of Ep1).

Even though SW was a long time ago...it WAS a galaxy far, far away. This galaxy was, over all, much more advanced in technology than ours. We've got pets. They had droids. I only saw pets being used as mounts in SW: Banthas, Rontos, those things the gungans rode on. Only a couple were dangerous that were actually in the movie: Sarlaac (sp?), the abominable snoman thing (can never remember the darned name), and of course, Wookiees

The droids were what really kicked arse. Droideka even took a few skilled jedi deflecting their own weapons to kill them. Ok, so the droid army from Ep1 were pushovers, but we'd leave those to the Non-DEs, heh heh. The real DE's would be the ones with the know-how to use the droidekas, or better yet, the wheeled missile platforms from Ep2.

We've got so many options out there, even extending to the SW RPG (which I've noticed they took lots of their weaponry from, including the model numbers such as the T21). There are treaded tankers, stealthy poison deliverers (shaped like cool little spiders), torture types, and even better repulsor ones like the probot.

Give us something...anything is better than what we were left with after the nerf bat took the probot and swung hard, taking it out of the spotlight and placing that spotlight onto the beloved CHers. I don't believe the spotlight has left them since that first month. They're even getting a second spotlight shined down upon them once the mounts go live.

We need love, Devs. Fix us, make us stronger, and send us out into the world!

OK...

I'll admit to not only being DE, so if you think this opinion is biased, so be it.

Probot's may not have needed to be nerfed (I think they did, but to half strength, not as hard as they hit them) but the bottom line is still the same, Probot's are NOT fighting droids. They are recon, not combat... What we need is our actual combat droids, and some skill based system for people to get to use POWERFUL droids.

The other obvious factor in my mind, is that the rest of our droids need to serve the purposes they "should" have. A repair droid should be needed to keep something(s) in repair, a protocol droid should be needed, if you actually want to communicate with some of the non player specie's in the game, let the R series go out and collect stuff off your harvestors. Bottom line is, have them fill the kind of roles they had in the movies, this isn't rocket science.

Definately Agree on the Probot thing. The funny bit is -- I'm not a DE. I just want to have droids, and see other people using them!

I am with you 100% that a protocol droid should be needed for that purpose, and and R-series for Repair, Surgical for Medical, etc...

Would be nice to see variety. They already have art assets for Combat Droids... Just need to give you DE's the ability to make them. I'd also remark that in TH's update, he says something about DE's being the only ones to use combat modules. As far as I know, we have never gotten clarification as to whether that means DE's will be the only ones that can put a combat module into a droid (duh?) or if only DE's will be able to USE combat droids/ (ick!)

At the root of it, we need fewer Cowardly Guerrecks and More Droids! Make this STAR WARS.
