Thread: How did he do this?

I was on Lok and I ran into a guy that was running Act II missions like me. He wanted some help with one. I agreed, Iwanted to give us some extra fire-power so I gave hima Probot. It was my old one, so I transfered it via datapad, not in DEED form. I went to call a new one, but I couldn't because of no-city/no-camp/no-call rule, and he couldn't make camps. However, when we got to the target, he called both his pet and the droid. I couldn't call either one. Is this an ability of CH's? If so, why are they able to call droids in the wild, and we can't? Can some one please explain.

umm no, as far as I have seen master creature handlers need a camp too.

He had to be able to make a camp, CH is off of Scout.

Now, how he called the creatures with out a camp is beyond me, but he could make a camp if he wanted.

Lok is bugged. Sometimes you can call pets/droids outside of cities/camps, sometimes you can't. He was probably constantly trying, or got extremely lucky.

I'm not sure what happened, but I can call droids and pets wherever, whenever I want without a camp or any other hindrance whatsoever. It began about a month ago I guess. And yes, I have /bug'd it.

I too have somehow gained this ability. I noticed it the first time when I was exploring on Dantooine and thought it was just a weird feature of that planet, but then I got back to Corellia and could still do it. Ah, well. I'm not complaining really.

It seems (at least me) to be based on the "adventure" planets. I can pull out my droids anywhere on any non-starting planets.

Actually it is not just non-starting planets. I have been able on a couple of occassions to pull my droid out in the middle of nowhere on Corellia. Doesn't happen all the time though. Most of the time I get the message telling me I need to be in a city or camp, etc...

I heard rumor that it has something to do with you owning a registered residence - i.e. get a house and make it a resisdence - not sure if that is the case though - I like to think that the universe is my home and I can call pets at home

If you have a registered residence, you can call out your droids or pets within a 100 meter radius of your home. Being able to randomly call out your droid or pet anywhere on any planet is a bug that seems to be occuring a bit more often since the change to where you can call your droid was made a few weeks ago, in the big patch. As to whether the two are related in anyway, its anyones guess here.

Thanks for the responses.

Iam pretty sure by the way it's not only a display bug though.

When it had kinetic vulnerability it got taken down by creature quickly. It got dropped by Selonians in their cave.

But with full resists it stood up to gaping spider hunters with barely a scratch in comparison.

oh well, at least i know it is a known issue now. Thanks again. :-)

This is quite an odd bug. Personally, I seem to get stopped more often than I should. I can't call in med centers usually, or cantinas. I can't call anywhere on Dantooine or Lok without going into a building first. And I always have to be in a real city (not just outpost) to call anything. As for having a residence, I've had one many times, for long periods of time. That's the only one that seems to work for me, as I can actually call outside of my house within the limit.

Oddly enough, on a side note, my residence frequently sets back to the default wanderer, and I have to keep declaring my house as residence again. Sometimes, it doesn't even work in the first place and I just say screw it.

I have witnessed many people pulling out pets randomly anywhere, or in other places that I cannot. I've always been confused by it, but decided not to worry about it.
