I know it's impossible to do. I know it would kill the DE market.
ButwhatI'd love to see is: every one can create asecond character onhis server, wich would be a droid.
You customise yourself and start a caracter in a droid skin. You would just be able to interact with the other players, follow some one if you like, be smart like D2, be annoying like C3PO. The RP factor is huge.
Of course, you cannot build anything, you can just hold 10 item if you have a item storage module, you can't have money.
You could act as a crafting station, transfer data, even be usefull in someplayer queststo slice terminals !
The droid slot couldbe unlockable by quests, like the FS slot "in concept".
This is just my imagination, the dream of someone who likes droids in starwars ...

So, as a droid character, does that mean you would run around being someone's manB&#$h ?? LOL.
And I for one would not want to get my butt whooped by C3PO holding a flamethrower. But, if you want me to put a baterry up your butt so you can run to my extractor and retrieve the resources I am all for it. LOL.
Also, this would give a new meaning to getting a "buff" that would then mean going to the cleaners rather than a doctor. LOL.

It's not a stupid idea.
Nor would it necessarily kill theDE profession.
It might be a short-lived character, not permanent. Maybe a week at most. You might have to buy a droid to do it. That gives us something in return. It would distract some of the miserable **edit** hologrinders for a while. It would b a major bonus for roleplayers.
Here's how it might be implemented:
Certain quests mind yield a "cyborg" key or some such item. Upon player death (perhaps a predetermined fate in this quest), rather than be regrown in the bacta tanks, you could have your brain installed in a droid schematic FROM YOUR INVENTORY. So you have to have the special item and the droid deed on hand.
Then, under the rationale that you're body is going to take extra long to regenerate, you spend one week as a droid. You've got full access to your stuff, and the droid's abilities, but not your full skill set.
Justification from canon: the brain-in-a-jar "monks" that skulk around Jabba's palace (perhaps that's a new droid model or class of droids to implement directly related to this feature!). Also, and I'm probably wrong on this one, wasn't one of the BHs in Empire a hybrid?
It's a lower priority than the main DE overhaul that needs to happen, but it's a cool idea for the future.

If I'm a droid I want to be a bio-engineer, just so I can make little humanoids to do menial tasks for me.

No, you're right, it would literally kill the Droid Engineer proffession.
I don't think they would do this in a million years.

The worst part of this would be that every ten minutes you'd get stuck, and all you'd be able to do is repeatedly say *Low Battery*

This idea is kind of silly, and I am fairly certian that the original poster meant for this to be a humourous discussion, but the idea of unlocking different kinds of additional character slots sounds really frickin cool to me.
