Well, if your new you aren't going to make anything at all. If you can make a DZ70, that is your first combat droid and it isn't much help, especially if you can't put an armor 6 on it.

Until you can make a probot with a decent armor module, you may as well go it alone.

yea, once you can get a probot with top of the line armor that will serve you on any of the basic planets (tatooine, naboo, corellia, rori, and talus). For anything much more advanced it won't help out too much.

Hmm. Let's see. A rancor is a good one.

Oh! You meant a droid.... Well, a Probot ADV is good for tanking bunnies...

What a joke. And you guys want MORE utility droids. Geezh....

OK, I am going to throw in my two credits here.

Probots do not completely suck.

If you have a probot with L6 armor in it, it can give you quite an edge.

I have an alt character that I am working my way through the marksman tree with. Of course, I had my main make him a probot

A guild mate and I went hunting last weekend. Grouped, the two of us could get level 15 missions. When we both pulled out our probots, we got level 25 missions - and the probots were needed to complete the missions.

Last night, my guild and some others from our city went to kill some Kyrats. We had a about 12 people, including an MCH with his rancor, me as my (weakling) alt, and more doctors than fighters. There were about 5 probots all blasting away at the Kyrat at any given point in time. Many people have multiple probots - one goes down, pull out the next one. True, they weren't exactly dishing out the damage, but it was quite a gratifying sight to see that my guild mates don't just buy my probots out of sympathy or some indirect way of paying guild dues And it was obvious that they used them regularly - they were using tactics with them, had macros set up, etc.

(I should mention here that Kyrat hunting on Chilastra has changed drastically since I last went. There is now a player city at the kyrat canyon and they have gotten a lot tougher. We were seriously outgunned by the other parties hunting there, and had to move along, but it was still fun )

No, they aren't god-like tanks. But there is more value to them than you might think at first glance.

More than quadruple. They would be better than creature pets and we would have a real market. Cant have that though.

As I mentioned, a number of people I know have three probots, and rotate them as they get torn up....
