Wow, interesting question. Hard one to answer for me, since I play DE for the roleplay aspects and as an item that I'm interested in.If you are out to make a bundle of money, this won't be the profession you are looking for. I think droids do have value, although I for one would like to see a lot more usefulness to them. But that is a long story that you can read on any other post on this board. I have a steady (but not huge) client base and i try to provide good customer service and droids made to meet the persons needs. The simple answer to your question is yes, I believe there is a point to DE. But what I want to get out of it may be different than yours. This isnt exactly the most high impact profession at this point in time;-)

Two accounts cancelled due to lack of Dev interest

The NGE, a sad end to a great game!

But what can driods _do_?

Everyone seems to want to be able to handle creatures because they fight. this makes them and the profession useful. if all droids do is beep and move then why bother slogging through it all?

What can droids do?

Well, they can act as low level combat tanks,

they can act as mobile private-class crafting stations, allowing crafters to make things anywhere,

they can act as mobile medical centers, enabling doctors to heal wounds anywhere,

they can serve as decay-free storage for valuable items,

they can store factory schematics,

they can repair other droids,

And, ummm, that's about all I can think of.

Taking a well-deserved vacation from his successful Droid Engineering business, Master Rho can be found puttering around the galaxy.

Droids do 3 things. Store your stuff, act like crafting stations, and let docs heal and buff outside med centers. That's it. That's all they do now and for the forseable future. A droid is the Pet Rock of SWG.

*Gets out his anti-Min/Maxer Probot*

"Attack Min/Maxer"

Yup, they don't do much, and if all you're looking for from the profession is an edge in the game, then move along. It ain't for you.

Why else woudl anyone want to buy a droid if not to gain an edge? Why do you think people trick up guns and armour and use vehicles?

As hard as it may seem to accept for you. there is a small percentage of players that do not see combat as the one and only aspect of this game. But you are not alone, in fact the DEVs are on your side.

Ermmm... where do you ever see the dev's being non-combat-centric?

All they care about is what can blast what, and ballance.

Blah.

Ah, sorry if i did not made myself clear. I meant the DEVs are on the side of the original poster, thus on the side of combat.

And the dev rep (i.e, Thunderwhatever) is a serious PvP person... doesn't help much.

He claims to be a crafter after a few days as an arch... *sigh*
