Thread: Don't rule out Combat Droids because they are illegal just add to Imperial Crackdown...

Don't rule out Combat Droids because they are "illegal" just add to Imperial Crackdown. Using the continium argument to try and rule out combat droids is a mistake. More is needed to keep ppl interested in this game, not less. Sorry, but EP 1 and 2 did make droids Star Wars'ish. Get over it.
You guys want combat eliminated and are calling it a continuity violation. Well, then if that's true, you also have to eliminate the following from the game because they are deemed "illegal" items:
1. Sliced Weapons
2. Spice
3. Being a rebel
You guys are so full of it. Your just blowing a ton of smoke to argue against combat droids for one reason. Your afraid that the DE profession might suddenly become attractive to the kind of power gamer/crafters that you know you cant compete against. Lets make the "Droid Retreat" utility droids only so you don't get your gimpy butts run out of business. Your a bunch of cowards.
If you really are concerned about the Star Wars Continium, which I find hard to believe, then push to have combat droids added to the list of contraband instead of eliminating it. Of course, you'll be absolutely against that idea cause your not really interested in perserving the continium, now are you....

Just to bring you up to date, we've been attempting to get a system where droids aren't tied to a single profession, but are more generic, as they are in Star Wars. As I recall nobody is calling for the elimination of combat droids, just debating how much use they are and how they do in with continuity.
Also, I assume you don't want Utility Droids, tough, a lot of people do want to make droids that are useful to people, rather than just basic combat tanks with no inherant function that you can't get in a Non-CH pet.
I'm against Droids being tied to a single class, and I agree that Combat droids being considered contraband would be good, along with most creature pets

Sure. I think utility droids are good. But they just aren't the main event were as the combat droids are. They are the secondary business. Sorry, like it or lump it, the big demand for product in this game will always be combat related. But seems from what I've been reading from my peers here, there's a push to eliminate the combat droids.

I read this far before I realized you didn't know what you were talking about. Combat Droids are not and never have been "illegal". Now after Episode One, the Republic made the making of droid ARMIES illegal. That would be ARMIES not COMBAT DROIDS, meaning combat droids were still legal just not armies of them. But in the time period we are in, the Republic no longer exists, there is no such thing anymore as the Republic and it wouldn't matter what laws they made becuase they are no longer around to enforce them.
Today there is this little group called the Galactic Empire running the Galaxy, and not only did the Empire hire combat droids as Bounty Hunters, but the Empirewasalso making an army of combat droids, they are called Dark Troopers. Let alone the constant use ofProbot droids which even the Republic used.Now there may be certain makes and models that are illegal but combat droids are not illegal.
Now as for everyone here not wanting combat droids, you obviously arn't reading the forums. We do want them but not the way the devs had planned to ruin them, and thus for most of us, more utility function is more important than combat droids right now. And we will still be getting level 10 combat droids in two publishes but the devs are trying to decide currently weather to give us the higher end combat droids or more utility function like most of us have been asking them to do. Higher end combat droids will make it ingame, it is just a question of when and how.
