Thread: can someone educate me on the use of composite armor segments in droid crafting?
That being said, the original question is, unfortunately, asking for what does not exist. The crappiest grinding materials will make composite armor segments that are sufficient for the task. There is nothing you can do regarding layers or anything else to improve droid armor. It's capped at 40% resist medium grade no matter what the armorsmith and/or droid engineer does.

Right now there is a bug where level 4 armor is the best that actually shows up (level 5 and 6 don't do anything extra) and level 4 doesn't require composite armor, so I don't think there will be much of a market for composite armor peices in droids until they fix it.
This is notreally correct. TWO level 4 armor segments equals ONE level 6 segment. A level 6 segment requires the composite armor segment to make. One armor 6 or 2 armor 4's will give a medium armor rating with 40% restists across the board.
All the developers have to do to make these more common is remove one of the armor slots off all the droids that have two slots for armor.
and thats still not correct
2 level 3 (experimented) = level 6, someone give me a mountaintop.
and its not a bug, its an intentional nerf

Why use 2 L4"s? Anything that adds up to 6 should give you L6 rating. 2 L3's would be a little cheaper on resources, though not much.
Cool!
I know a lot more now than I did before, thanks guys ![]()
Huh? Since when do two lvl3 = one lv6? I know that a regular lvl4 + lv3 = lvl6. So experimentation works on armor modules?

Not necessarily. You would need 2 pretty decently experimented level 3's to get to level 6... Two level 4's with the crappiest materials and no experimentation will get you level 6 with no doubt.
Yeah, there's really two schools of thought here. Most people prefer to just say that it takes a pair of L4's to equal one L6 because that's guaranteed to be true. However, since I normally experiment all of my products as much as possible anyway, I prefer to point out that a pair of experimented L3's has the same effect and is cheaper.
It sort of depends on what kinds of resources you're using. It doesn't take that much experimentation to get a pair of L3's up high enough, so you'd have to be using some seriously crappy resources to be limited by them. I've been a Master Droid Engineer for so long now that my "crappy" resources - the ones that I'm rotating out of my stocks because I have much better ones now - are 700+ or better. In some cases my "crappy" stuff is 900+ because I now have 950 or 980 to replace it.
